Well i went out and bought a new case today, it has everything two 80mm exhaust fans and two 80mm intake fans, my mainboard temp is about 26 now (down from 30) but my CPU temp didnt budge. It s still at 43C idle and 51C load. And to p**s me off even more it a thermalright SK-6 hs with a 7000rpm fan.
What am i doin wrong? HELP?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Well it is possible that the HSF you have on there is at its best... It might not be able to perform any better... Just a thought!~!

Have you checked to make sure your heatsink is properly seated on the cpu and has a nice even spread of compound on it?

Have you lapped that SK-6? I do not personally have one, but I have seen many posts here about having to lap it before seeing superior results with it.
Lapping will almost always help your temps, but these posts basically all had the same theme that they did not have great SK-6 results until lapping it.
Perhaps some of those SK-6 owners can confirm ?
Hope that helps.

How can i clean off the Old AS II so that i can get a fresh start?

I clean it up using Goo Gone. It cleans off ASII like a champ and leaves no residue.

Basically, it is using sandpaper to rough and then polish the bottom of the HSF to make it perfectly flat and provide optimum contact with your chip.
Here (http://forums.overclockers.ws/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43808) is a good thread about lapping and I have a good link in that thread to an article that fully explains how to lap.

The as II will come off with just a wipe of toilet paper or kleenex. (don't use rough stuff) make sure you polish the hsf before you put new stuff on.
(did you mean you use goo-be-gone on the cpu?)

If you lap you H.S. and you feel confident then try to lap your CPU. Just remember when adding ASII and any other brand use a small amount. I put a dap or two on then take a credit card or something like that then wipe across the core of the CPU so I'm left with a thin layer.

I have used Goo Gone on the CPU core with no problems.
I am not sure you'll be able to get all the ASII off without some type of solvent.
