I didn't see one, I believe the quicktime version is like 640x480 which really isnt hd, but its still 90MB the wmv version is 4somethingxwhoknows and 20 MB

It does not look that great to me, its funny how people are building new computers so that they can run Crysis at low resolutions yet even the HL2 Episode 1 engine looks more impressive to me than the Crysis engine. Hopefully it will be a semi decent coded engine so that we dont have another Oblivion or FEAR on our hands. Also, the gameplay looks extremely retarded IMHO, being able to pretty much fly and kill people while spraying in mid air is just plain stupid.

O well atleast HL2EP2 and Portal along with STALKER are coming out soon.

It kind of looks like FarCry because of the environment, but the gameplay mechanics and the story are completely different. I do have to agree though that HL2 and HL2:Ep1 really set the bar for interactivity. They may be linear, but the scripting, animations, and story telling are at the top of the list. I especially love the subtle animations, such as when I blinded Alex with the flashlight and she holds her arm in front of her eyes. I hope more developers take the time to put little details like that in their games.

what i was hoping for in FarCry (and was slighty disappointed of) is that there was so much awesome jungle environments, but the multiplayer seemed lacking.

i just want a beautiful jungle game to do team deathmatch in damn it. =)

HL2 is my #1 fav game ever. But how can you say that Crysis does not look better than HL2? Sure it was 2-3 years ago that HL2 came out and was looking so awesome...but it does NOT look better than Crysis. In that TINY window it is a little hard to really see it. But if you get an HD trailer and watch it, you will see the difference.

It's like saying that any pretty game that came out on the XBOX could compare to Gears of War's graphics.

Now when Valve releases that new Source engine, hopefully they will turn that all around again.


Crysis graphics are sweet (Although I'll admit that the jungle stuff is a little monocromatic) But things still look awesome, regardless of color. The physics seems awesome also.


And regarding the huge jumps and stuff. There is some sort of mode for super strength (I think the story of it is that you are wearing a suit or something that increases your speed and strength.) I'm sure there are negative effects of it. Otherwise, why wouldn't you just leave that mode on all the time, right?

I had heard a while back that it would be DX10 only. But I think I've heard of it running on DX9 since then. :shrug:

Yes, if you look at the developer commentary...

Speed- Obviously fast, but you're really fragile
Strength- Super jumps, being able to pick things up and throw them really far/fast (you see this in the other video), don't know the downside

Etc. It's shaping up to be great.

It also appears that you can customize weapons on the fly. Adding a scope, or a silencer, etc. Probably cuts down on the practice of having 2 rifles, a shotgun, rocket launcher, crossbow, pistol, and knife that you carry around. Instead, you have a transformer weapon that reconfigures.
I see a number of new ideas in this game that I think will make it a contender for game of the year. Far Cry has excellent gameplay and AI and I am sure Crytek will have kept those trademarks for this new offering. I just hope that EA does a better job with it than Ubisoft did with FC.

Also...

The AI is really good. They work together to find where you are, flank you, box you in, etc.

They also work like real people. Running between cover hunched over (like they're trying to not get shot). Etc.

The real possible jump ahead in gameplay here is with the interactivity with the environment is. I mean, supposedly you can pick up darn near anything that isn't nailed down. You can see on the video that when attacking vehicles you can destroy individual pieces of the hummers. Blow out a tire, shoot the gascan, shoot up the windows and watch the glass shards fly all over the place. Blow up the environment. It all seems pretty sweet to me. But can they pull off all that is promised? That question remains to be seen.

The quality of games has nothing to do with the fact that PC gaming is dying. It is the continually falling developer support. Can you justify spending $1500+ on a gaming rig when it will only see a small handful of worthwhile games before it needs to be upgraded again? The gaming industry caters to mainstream trends, not a niche market.

I'm saving my money until crysis is released. Then, there will be the obligatory 87 page review at Hardocp telling you what you need to run the game best.

Then newegg will probably see $1500 or so of my money. :D

It looks great as always. Might not have that "cool" looking flair anymore due to all the videos of it being shown but it will look much better if you have a system that can run it at a nice high res fully eye candied :)

FPS wise This at the top of the list followed closely by HL2:EP2, U2k7 (just due to graphics :), GRAW2 (i love a good tactical game), and STALKER (that has worn down a little due to being in development so long now). Sure I missed a few more but at least thats what im looking forward to PC wise.
