Don't plan on running anything digitally with Creative X-Fi's, they only do 2.1. You need to run analog to get 5.1/7.1.

I'd personally look into the Auzentech series of cards, I've heard a lot of good things. I believe the X-Meridian fits in your price range too (which is their high end card).

Good luck

The AuzenTechs are better for optic out and HTPC. They do have some issues with a few games. For down right gaming and analog X-Fi wins.

Look in to M-Audio Revolution cards. you have a choice of 5.1 and 7.1

dont look into any of the audigy series if you already have a SB live 5.1... the audigy series uses the same exact sound processing chip as the sb live 5.1... heck you can even use audigy drivers on a sb live 5.1 card... i say stick with what you got... the difference even if you upgrade to the best x-fi probably wont be noticible.
