As some of you have read before i have been having problems with my 7900GS and random reboots with no BSOD at all....

If it is indeed a power issue could i have 1 power supply powering the system, and a seperate one JUST for the 7900GS?

Is it possible?

Also i have read a sticky on dual PSUs and saw this website http://www.speedy3d.com/articles/case_mod_p3/01.shtml

it says that you can have dual PSUs by grounding the green wire to the black using a paper clip or something like that...but how would you go connecting the 2 PSUs together....

I know i have just posted 2 completely different topics but i thought i would keep it to 1....

Thanks
Edward

if i wanted to use a second PSU just for the card, would i have to ground the connectors as you have to while running dual PSU setups?

I have an FSP 400W PSU which has dual 12v rails (18A each) but i dont think its coping well with my 7900GS as i keep getting random system reboots now and again...only since i installed it...

I also have a spare 480w PSU with 25A on the 12v rail...which i would like to use for my card...

could i just plug the 480w psu into the power socket, plug the pci-e connector to the card, and have the FSP powering the rest of the system? then could i just switch them both on and would they work ok or would they have to be grounded like dual PSU setups so that they run sync?

Helps very much appreciated!
Thank You
Edward

you dont have to run them sync. just turn the PSU that powers the card first, then the main system PSU.

so you can do it any way you want. sync or not.
