i am installing windows xp on my brothers computer, a athlon 1200 on asus a7v pro motherboard. i formatted drive and when its starts copying files it first starts saying files cannot be copied, like mse.dll and so on. it does this for a few files then it goes to the blue stop screen. saying it is stopping before doing any damage to computer. i tried doing a couple of things in bios but i dont really know what im doing very well. now when i restart it says ntldr missing hit ctrl alt dlt to restart. what do i do.
please help me.
thanks.:D

Is it the original disk or a backup. I know I've had a few troubles a number off times getting some files to copy from the disk to the drive with backup cd's on older or cheap CDrom drives. You may have better luck copying the disk to his harddrive then installing from his harddrive. That usually works much better for me.

i tried to reinstall windows 98, but when attempting to install win xp, i changed the drive to ntfs. so it wont take 98 any more.

so i tried installing 2000, i put the disc in cdrom, and set to boot from rom first, then it finally just goes to c:> prompt.

what do i do from here.?
thanks:D
