View Full Version : 8800 series Stream Processor overclocking?

I read a little tidbit of info that made me wonder. It was in this month's CPU magazine. It said that an Nvidia guy was talking about Stream Processor overclocking and how us overclockers would have a lot of fun with it. But it wasn't yet available to us. Anyone heard of this situation, or any software that would give us the ability to OC them? (And I use the term "us" loosely, because unfortunately I do not have an 8800 card :))

And also, does anyone have any insight or info on what peformance gains we'd see from SP overclocks?

There's some info in this thread (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=124872&highlight=shader+clock).

From the link that Maxi provided, it seems that they are OC-able. Though the poster says that gaming performance actually decreases. But 3DMark06 scores increase.

hmm weird i wonder why overclocking reduces performance...

Im not sure if I would risk flashing it just for 200 points, when say you could get the same 200 points from using different drivers, or something like that. I know with my 6800 my score can be (+-200) easy.

Well if you are a benchmarker and are trying to break a record or something, that little amount of points may be all you need.
