8800gtx cod2 & css problems. Bad card?

My computer has been running fine for about 5 days, but started acting screwy lately. In css I'm having problems that many are having with 8800gtx (models turn grey with distance), but just yesterday I launched cod2 and am having purple textures and just plain screwy performance. I googled some of the symptoms and couldn't find anyone with the same problem, so I'm coming to y'all.

keep in mind, the game used to run just fine and I can't remember changing anything...
If you look closely, the 'lagometer' in game is showing the blue declining.... This means "Blue lines below the baseline mean that the frame is interpolating between two valid snapshots", and unfortunately I have no idea what that means. haha

have u updated ur vid card drivers... and the actual game updates any patches?

humm, how are the temps on the card? Also is the hsf loose? Almost looks like a core issue tho...

I increased my CPU vcore and it went away... Does that even make sense? The game still freezes periodically, but my GPU temps are always somewhere around 65. All drivers are updated.

I've always had problems with my 7900GTO and 7600GT's displaying pink textures pretty much with any game based on the HL2 engine. I usually get them right before steam starts acting all retarded and telling me it cant find my steam ID or something.

Completely closing steam and reopening it remedies the situation.

as far as css goes, nvidia knows about it and they are hopefully working to fix it. You can fix it by forcing the game to run with a dx version less than 9. The cod2 problem is really weird because all my games work fine except for it.

So is it possible that the colors went away after I increased my cpu voltage?

problem's back for cod2. I don't get why all other games run fine but cod2 won't.

I sometimes get pink bump maps on CSS when I alt tab out of the game and such.. but they go away when I do it again, so no biggie.
