Well I have my 1800xp from 1533 to 1702 and temps idel at 42
use to be 36 but it would sometimes hang up in games so i had to boost the vcore to the second highest level and temps now at 42 idel *kinda high* and full load at 46 full load..not bad though
so I have two extremely wimpy 80mm intake fans with homemade airfilter which works amazing (peps u should buy a house filter and cut it fitting it in the front,they rock) and I have 1 80mm wimpy fan at the back but the problem is this
my Delta 68cfm IS SO FREAKEN LOUD good god I have headaches now when im on the comp to long LOL and I have to play my video games with headphones just to hear whats going on
Can you please help me? Im going to put 1 stronger 80 mm fan for intake and I need advice ( i need something Silent yet strong!!)
Plus im taking that bosturdly delta 68cfm off and going to put on something more silent yet strong, what would make me happy? I (almost can handle the loudness of the 68 but i dearly want something a lil more silent) thats why im geting a stronger 80mm for intake so my temp should be about the same if not better
(better airflow ect hehe) btw I read somewhere about a site that sells computer fans and lets you hear them also, I once went there but forgot the name of the site. could somebody please help me. I took a lot of you guys advice and seem extremely pleased yet i need a more silenter fan
My heatsinks a pal 8040 so i need a 80mm fan that will fit it give me advice and let me thank you again

get an panaflo 80mm ultra high speed fan....these are SOOO quiet and and put out enough air. and for your airflow, if you dont mind holes...put a 120mm panaflo on the side blowing over the pci/agp slots, 80mm panaflos on the front and back, and another 120mm exhaust if you cut a hole in the top...this would lower temps alot..when i added a 92mm fan on the side blowing over the pci/agp slots...case temps went down 5c and cpu temp went down 4c....hope this helps

Have you seen the max airflow the 80mm puts out
GOODLORD!! 24cfm LOL Thats not enough to cool anything!
my chip would melt lol, I dont know im at directron and it says it puts out 24 cfm, i need at least 40cfm if im going to have my comp anywhere near 1.7 gigahertz lol
im thinking about buying the sunon high speed 80mm fan that puts out 42 cfm and is only 36 decibels
not bad eh? probly buy 3 and put 1 in the front and one in the back and one on the heatsink and use the strongest wimpy fan i have left and keep it in the case.

Heh heh, fan mod time! Guess I'll round up all my sleeve bearinged fans and file a flat on the shaft, usually oiling them every few months anyway. :cool:

I want the 92mm ranger joe but it wont fit on my heatsink
think i should go far the 92mm and just stick in in the case? While geting a sunon80mm high speed for my heatsink?

Hey Ranger JOE... I have a Antec soho file servercase 1040b..
It holds 2 80mm fans front, one in a drive bay,[cant mess with that, besides getting a better fan then that stock antec] and two 80x80x25 in the rear. Well I was wondering what kind of CFM does all our fans put out.....
By putting an exhaust blower in the top, what does that do. The case has its own pressure either negitive and poistive,[positive being that the same air u put in the same goes out] What should a case have? NEg or positve air flow. How many fans is to much?:burn:
Any one else know whats up with fans.. any good articles would be a great help

You might want to check out kdcomputers.com, they have a nice assortment of fans. They have a 53 cfm Sanyo Denki fan that you can mount on top of your heatsink that are supposed to keep it within a degree or 2 of what your Delta keeps it at. I have been using the 80 mm Sunon fans (39.6 cfm and 36 cfm) for case fans in my comps and they are fairly quiet. Also, the Panaflo fans are supposed to be very good too. Hope this helps you out.

Positive pressure is putting more air in than out, means air tends to get blown out any holes where there isn't a fan. If using filters slight positive pressure stops dust ingress through cracks and such. The best pressure to have is neutral pressure (same in and out), as this puts least load on the fans so you get max cfm.

Thanks alot for clearing that up.. But then why do people put blow holes in to make the air go in to directions/ Doesnt that create a vaccum over the cpu hsf???:confused:

Why don't you just slow down the fan by dropping the fan to 7V so that it's quieter? See if that keeps the cpu temps low enough -- anything up to 50C at full load is perfectly safe unless your monitoring thermistor is badly positioned.
You'll find that any fan that puts out more than about 30 CFM is going to be kinda noisy -- at least in the 35-38 dBA range. You're actually better off to slow your monster fan down.
See here for how: You use the yellow 12v wire as the power connector to the fan and use the red 5v connector as the fan ground. The fan sees the potential difference between the 12v and the 5v so is run at 7 volts. Fans can be run at 5v but some will fail to start and air flow is low. 7v is a 40% improvement over 5v.
