There is only one game console in my house, an Xbox, which my youngest daughter enjoys. As for the rest of us we have never used a game console. I play some PC games, but I'm hardly a gamer. The concept of the Wii is intrigues me. Are these games simple enough for some old fart newbies to get the hang of? I was thinking of it as a family activity to get us off the couch in the winter assuming that it eventually will get too cold for outdoor activities here in Jersey. (That hasn't happened yet, but I figure we can't luck out the entire winter) Any feedback would be appreciated as I don't want to lay out the bucks for something that gathers dust.

well if my dad can play it and enjoy it (someone who's never really played games) then anyone can. My mom even played a bit and hit some homeruns, and I've never ever seen her play a video game. So they are defiantly simple enough for anyone to play. I would suggest demoing one at bestbuy or something before you buy one and see what you think (it will take you probably 2 mins to get the hang of it).

if you want a console for just family entertainment and nothing too serious or involved go with the wii, wii sports is decent and mario party 8 will be coming out in march and that is an awesome party game or family activity. but the games do get old. my roommates and i can only stand about 1 game of bowling before we want to do something else like a board game. but mario party will entertain for hours.

i think you would really enjoy a wii. i have mine and i love it. even for non gamers, my grandma was playing wii sports with me over christmas. this really is the first console that transends age.

I spent three hours today playing Wii Golf and Wii Bowling with my grandmother. This woman has not touched a video games system in her life, loathes computers, and has no gamers intuition.

Seeing her dancing around the room after scoring a Birdie on Hole Three, and smack talking me when she doubles up on her strikes is half the reason I bought the Wii.

Get it!

I can count the number of times my dad has played a video game system on one hand and have fingers to spare. When I got my Wii, he and his girlfriend came over to do some paperwork, and he asked to try it. He absolutely loved it, and so did she. They made Miis, played Bowling and Tennis and had a blast doing it. So much so, that for Christmas dinner at their house, he asked me to bring it with me so he could play.

My sister who doesn't play games threw down in Bowling and loved it.

A family friend who has never played a video game in his life played Bowling, and asked me where he could get a Wii.

Every friend I have who has played with it has asked me where they can get one, or how hard they are to get.

If you can find one, buy one. You won't be disappointed :)

You'll love it Rseven.

When I saw the demo at wallmart I just started giggling over how fun it looked.
(from another old dude)

It can be used as a browser as well, and the kids can get all the old classics made for the old nintendo machines.

Now all we have to do is find one.

It is so universally likeable. I don't have one, but a friend does - I took my fiancée (who really doesn't like games) up to play on it and she loved it.

My parents love mine. -_-

My uncle plays the new zelda just for its fishing, my cousin hates that he is always on the Wii when he wants to play. :)
