What CPU is THIS?

I know it's an Intel Pentium 4 cause it says so on the chip itself. But what do these other numbers mean? What is a good motherboard for this processor?

I'd appreciate any help on this CPU. I'm looking to buy a motherboard for it from Newegg.com so I can tinker with this processor. I have never owned an Intel CPU.

thats a p4 northwood and the cpu database shows someone getting it to overclock to 2.8 on stock air with this motherboard, Abit IS7-E . hope this helps.

1.6a northwoods came out several months after its faster northwood cousins. 1.6a's where known to be the best bang for your buck on the intel side in late 2003. They use the old FSB400, so their multiplier is high (x16 i think). You can probably run it up past FSB533 without any issues. FSB800 will be very tricky.

1.6a ghz = CPU clock speed of 1600 MHz of course.
512 = 512k L2 cache
400 = system bus speed (100 FSB)
1.5v = default vcore

SL668 = s-spec code (it's a B0 stepping)
Costa Rica = Intel manufacturing/assembly plant

3209A653-0727 = batch code which can be decyphered if you look at the condensed sticky post. Basically it's a week 9 of 2002 processor.

Running those old 1.6a at 133 FSB (2.13 gig) is a no brainer. By the way, all Northwoods are socket 478. There is nothing worth buying at newegg. All the good socket 478 motherboards are no longer made. Look for a used Abit or Asus with an Intel chipset.
