Your system is outdated.

Every computer is 'outdated'

When p4 2.0ghz came out, they had already invented the 2.5's, or 2.7's.

No matter what, CPU'S Are always outdated.

The reason that they do that is so they have more time to invent new one's, So it's irelevant that your cpu is not outdated.

well, your system is quite good, though you can do more with the video card and soundcard. try upgrade to 8500 or Gefore3, and Audigy for the sound.....but his system will do, just OC IT!!!!!!

a computer is only as good as it runs, and does what you want it to do

45/50....audigy games won't be around for a bit longer. I'd go with an 8500 or straight old GF3 (no Ti) for a vid card. 64mb of DDR vram will make a big difference.

Awesome motherboard...just built my third box using that board and talk about painless...Unlike my Asus A7N8X Deluxe (what a pain in the butt)...I used to really like the 106S slot load Pioneers but unless they have really pumped up the jam on the 120's, I would choose something else...I prefer the Toshiba's for DVDROM's...What I do not understand is why for 5.00 more dollars you do not get a Lite-On CD burner...Might get alot more use out of it than just a DVD-ROM...As for the video card you really should try to go with atleast a ATI Radeon 8500...It will play most games and you should be able to find one cheap...Nice video card for the money...:)

agreed on the video card thing, and your profile doesnt say if you're in the US or not, but if you are, drop an extra $10-$20 to bump that 1600 up to an 1800-2000

Yeah h20link has a good point...You really should look in AMD processors and try to find the 1700+ or a 2100+ steppings that are good overclockers...The 2100+ B's are easy to find...Do not know about the 1700+ B's...:)

performance 2 off for XP 1600, 3 off for radeon, total 5
multimedia 10 should do anything "multimedia-ish"
Stability 9 (SBlives can sometimes screw things up)
overclock 9 (XP 1700 Tbred would give it 10)
longevity 7 you might be needing more CPU and GPU power very soon.

Total 40/50

40/50
CPU is decent but faster available for not much money,
Not a fan of Soltek boards
Radeon is aging
I would never be able to survive on just 30 gig.

I tihnk I'd have to give it a 40/50. Like a lot of people have mentioned so far, I'd go with a better video card ( a GeForce 3 or Radeon 8500). I think that sound card will suit your purposes pretty well. I'd also would have gone with an Epox or Asus board as well. Not a BAD system though. I tihnk it'll hold u for a bit anyways... mine isn't much better....
