PVE to 60, but also do some pvp along the way so you can have some honor points to spend once you hit 60. Go Demonic, its awesome, and the stats boost on your pets really helps out while trying to kill monsters. Remember that wow is mostly a grind sort of game from about 35-45, then you can respec somthing else if you like.
Demo to 60. The noobish hunter-spec of the warlock is great for solo PvE. Once you hit 60 I suggest switching to destruction and PvPing... Seeing as you're pretty low level you won't reach 60 by the time BC hits. Depending on your guild situation when you get up higher, Affliction will help a lot in raiding. But even that being said, I'm full destruction and usually 1st or 2nd in top DPS in any raids.

I like Affliction myself for Grinding, with occasional PVP.
Once I hit 60.. or 70.. since we only have 4 more days!!!!
I will be going Demo, prolly.
Big vote for Affliction...
Use Curse of Agony (Instant).
Make Corruption instant asap.
Get Siphon Life (Instant) in the Affliction tree.
Eventually you will get Death Coil. (Instant with Fear effect, but has a cooldown.)
Boost Shadow Damage as much as possible.
Use the heck out of your Fear spells. Howl of Terror(?) can be made instant.
Use Life Tap to get mana from your life. Get the talent that lets you steal mana from your minion...really awesome...also in Affliction tree...one of the best abilities in the game. Undead has great Spirit for mana regen, ability to resist Fear and Charm, and consume corpse to refill life after some Life Taps.
Of course use Soulstones and Healthstones.
Learn to play it well and you will be a death machine and function great in pretty much every aspect of the game. Those top three instant DoT's are brutal and extremely easy to execute as instants.
I have a problem with affliction and Demo specs.. The entire fight they are just running for their lives, and with affliction they'll usually die before the DoT kill the target. I hate being a puss and running like hunters. (I despise hunters) Destruction is the only build that seems admirable for a lock. Yeah, you won't be that great till you get a good amount of +dmg and yeah it's not mana friendly.. But there is really nothing like doing toe to toe with any class on the field and briskly showing them the ground up, close, and personal.

First thing any warlock should get is improved corruption no if ands or buts.
Then id keep going down affliction until 34, once 34 get Soul Link and 5/5 IMP corruption. Then from there on put 2 points in imp lifetap and the rest into destruction.
Dark pact sucks imo. Once your demo you will have no downtime with imp lifetap so there no reason to steal your minions mana when they can easily solo mobs while you take on 2 your self.
Mind you I have 2 60 warlocks under my belt.

Thank you gang I took your advice and now I am concentrating on affliction only.
Keep in mind dots were nerfed a few days ago, so affliction post patch is a shadow of what it once was.
UA (unstable afflic) rocks for PvP, but it's pretty sub par for PVE being just another dot. But when you dispell it..well...then it gets fun. I'm picking up a warlock from an RL friend next week and I have to say I'm excited.
I'm a priest, but you guys are like brothers to us, since we mutually benefit from nightfall procs.
