wow 2007 gaming industry looks like big-time cr@p :( sigh i REALLY need to get out of the whole gaming scenes, all you can see are warring and warring, then no good games get out at all. Gonna have to find another, better hobby than gaming... bah in the end it's a win for me, as i won't be buying those overhyped consoles afterall. Still, really sad to see capcom doing this move >_>

Some of Nintendo's third party developers are owned by MS and Nintendo owns some developers that make PC games...

I don't see any problem, MS and the Big N go well with each other... mainly to hurt SONY.

CAPCOM owns, I'm kinda glad MS has them now... one more reason to be happy with a 360 and another to save my money on another console.

Holy SH**!

I can't BELIEVE THIS! They bought friggin' CAPCOM?!?!

Do you have any idea what the implications of that are?

@ Shell: MS and Nintendo do NOT go hand to hand. If they went hand and hand you'd be able to play Goldeneye on your little Wii... but Nintendo fans will NEVER see that game again.

And what's basically happening is exactly what I said would happen many months ago. MS and Sony will simply snatch up all the good developers, and Nintendo will be left with... I don't know... maybe Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog. He'll make a guest appearance in the next Smash Brothers and that'll be the end of it.

The move will certainly help Capcom who's been in one HELL of a magical slump for YEARS now (by capcom standards). The company that once absolutely DOMINATED both the arcades and home systems... going all the way back to the original nintendo... now pretty much only produces Resident Evil games and various takes on Devil May Cry 3 (which is even more specific then adding "Tails" to your roster of aquisitions).

This is the same company that once had Final Fight and Street Fighter 2 dominating the arcades and the home systems at the same damned time. It was also the dominating company of the Sega Saturn, and the Dreamcast, going all the way up to the PS2 with the release of Onimusha and a handful of other breakthrough titles in the early days of that system. (There was Onimusha, the original Devil May Cry, a PS2 port of their smash hit Dreamcast Resident Evil game, and a few more which elude me.) But after that there was pretty much:

"So... what do we do now?"
"Well... we could make ANOTHER Resident Evil game..."
"Alright. Good idea. Then what?"
"Well... we could make an ONLINE Resident Evil game..."
"Yeah. But AFTER the resident evil game."
"Oh you see it's two different games. Then something with a gun in it..."

I can understand them not making anymore arcade hits since there are no more arcades... But what about a capcom RPG? A capcom driving game? One of those futuristic cop games? Their own take on an Xmen Legends type game? A whole new genre? SOMETHING!!

Onimusha (the first one anyway...) proved to me that Capcom still had an imagination and was still capable of inventing franchises. They pretty much ruined that one... but at least they had it in the first place.

Maybe working for Microsoft will help them focus the way that Epic managed to focus on Gears. (Unfortunately it detracted from their other projects like Duke Nukem: NEVER.)

Still... you would think the company that owns the rights to both Street Fighter AND Resident Evil would've been able to drum it up on their own.

Can you imagine Microsoft in COMPLETE CONTROL of that Library?

This would be huge for MS if it was true, but what happens then to games already promised such as DMC or Res?

Capcom also did Lost planet, another Xbox 360 exclusive. But either way, this is HUGE, bigger then BIG if it fully pans out. And much as many people hate MS, MS has been driving alot of newer gaming trends. So its a definitely boost to the consoles :D

Somebody please blow up microsoft. Shouldnt they have been taken down by the minopoly law a long time ago? I know that capcom is not competing with microsoft, but when is enough actually ebough? Bill Gates needs to stop being a greedy S.O.B.. They should make windows a hell of a lot cheaper if he continues his sree of buy outs. Damn it. I heard that he said i doesnt like having all the money he has now because it makes him a target for others to attack him. Well simple solution. STOP BEING GREEDY YOU IDIOT.

Sorry i just had to vent.:) I feel better now.:D

RUMOR!

This rumor has been cruising the interweb tubes for about 4 months now. There has not been a press release from either Capcom nor Microsoft as of yet, and I refuse to believe the internets regarding this until I see said press releases.

The internet rumor mill is still churning away I see. It's one of the reasons I have a love-hate relationship with Digg.

All a matter of opinion I suppose. Do you consider Rare, Capcom, Konami, Data East, Namco, and Square/Enix good developers?

RUMOR SMASH!! (http://kotaku.com/gaming/capcom/rumor-smash-msoft-not-buying-capcom-228333.php)

Turns out the rumor was started in a thread at NeoGAF regarding the announcement of a press conference that Microsoft had announced in Osaka, Japan. The press conference was regarding Hideo Kojima putting together a Metal Gear game for the Xbox 360. The rumor mill was already churning at this point, however, and the Capcom rumor managed to leak it way into the internet tubes.

Rumor over.

Fun? Personally I like the companies to be free to put things on which console they want.
