If you have the December 2001 issue of Maximum PC, then turn to page 20 to see the P4 and Athlon XP battle it out. The outcome? Turn to page 28. WOOT!!! AMD beats (barely) Intel once again....last years Gear of the Year CPU winner was the Athlon 1 GHz. Better luck next year, Intel.....bwahahahahaaa!

What is really important here is the price difference for the cpu's, mobos, and ram :D
That's why since the TBirds have come out I have been recommending Athlon systems to all my friends and clients. Before that I was .... gasp ..... an Intel fan :eek:

So true Azhari :
1/ Corsair pc 2400 = $60
2/ Shuttle ak31 rev 3.1 = $80
3/ AMD XP 1900+ = $255
4/ Globalwin CAK 38 with delta fan = $32
TOTAL = $427
Intel p4 2.0 478 with fan = $432
These are newegg.com prices ......... Iknow cause I have the same stuff 'cept for a epox 8kha+ board :D . Intel's price/performance sucks :mad:
I hope the northwoods aren't that much money. I can't pay 500dollars for a chip and I really would like a northwood system. Intel has to drop prices.

Unfortunately they are happy with everything as it is I think. IMHO the key for AMD is getting in the corporate market, more, and more. That will cause intel to start worrying about price.

AMD used to have barely 1% of the market only a short while ago, now they have a lot more.
Just shows to go that today's consumer looks further than just a "Brand Name".
