Hey i've just upgraded to XP and iv'e been having a few problems.
Does anyone know how to get XP to turn off on it's own as it says "It is now safe to turn off your computer".
Where is the menu that lists all the programs that start up when windows starts up as i can't find it.
Has anyone been having problems with 3D MARK 2001 and XP? It goes really wierd but it doesn't like the 98 drivers for my VooDoo5 PCI card so i suppose this could be the problem. Anyone know where the XP VooDoo5 drivers are?

Thanx for all your support.
J

To see the programs that start automatically go to Run and type "msconfig".

As far as trouble shooting the automatic shutdown there is some information on the Microsoft website, but I am not sure if there is new info there for XP.

for auto shutdown you need to enable apm (advance power managment)

right click desktop, go to screensaver tab, click power options, go to apm tap and click to enable apm.

Had same problem when I disabled ACPI, i quess when thats disabled it disables APM too.

Hey thanks martyt, great site. I too am having problems getting XP to shut down, its saves my settings, turns off the mouse and keyboard, but won't shut down. Seems to be a overclocking thing when I restore default settings WinXp shuts down fine. Have tried a bunch fixes nothing's worked yet, still looking.

Sometimes it also has to be enabled in the BIOS. This also appies to Win2K.
