Hi is anyone here using the gpu folding client ?
Can you use it and fold on your cpu at the same time ??
Which is faster , the GPU folding or the CPU folding ?

well as a new GPU folder , no you cant fold gpu AND cpu , unless you have a dual core then I heard you only get 10% at most more unless you are running in Linux . Linux SMP is way hot right now highest points avaiable are 1440 and have 3 day FInal Deadline so if you do the math 1 WU 3 days 1440 points = 480 ppd if it takes you 3 days , gpu is pretty hot , 330 pointers which I can get 2 done in a day , so thats 660ppd on an Asus 1950 Pro bone stock .
but if you have single core its either cpu or gpu not both
oh and the most my 3700+ @2.8 gets 180-200 ppd
cpu in XP 180-200ppd vs gpu 660ppd vs cpu Linux I couldnt tell you cuz I am not running it yet
well, if you have dual core, its profitable to fold on both no matter what...considering you'll have an idle core.
but SMP and GPU is the best combination.

Actually I'd like to know if anyone has a dual core and gpu setup . Do you :
1/ gpu only ?
2/ GPU and 1 core ?
3/ gpu and both cores ?

Well I don't run GPU yet but I have an X1650 Pro sitting here waiting to be swapped in for the 7600gs. When that happens I will then try and run SMP + GPU..so 2 cores + GPU...although to run 2 regular FAH clients its not recommended. I don't remember exactly but at the latest beta the GPU client still takes ~20-30% minimum of a CPU core to be efficient at all.

Sorry, Your wrong.
I am pressently folding on a single core HT P4 631. GPU and CPU
With minimal performance loss.

You can do option 3 if you set one CPU client to use like 75/80% (might have to find a % that works best for you) and the GPU uses the rest or set the GPU client to low priority and the CPU client to idle priority. Theres probably a hit on tpf but the overall ppd might be better. I only have a x1800xl so the hassle was to much for me since one CPU core was getting around the same ppd as the gpu client (option 2). It's a 256meg card so I had mouse/video lag and it was to easy to eue the client (had to underclock the card). ctrl-alt-del for task manager would cause an eue. The stigma that I'm wasting a CPU core on a GPU did not help. :p
yah, its just a bunch of messing around, to see what works best for you. Just realize that the deadlines for those GPU work units are rather quick....so you have to finish them fast.
Plus, as Chasr would say, in best interest of science, and to get the greatest results, turning in WU's faster (per WU) is better than getting more points.....so Option 2 gets my vote (my current working setup). You can also run VMWare and the SMP client and then a GPU client. That by far yields the greatest points. There are plenty of threads here on doing VMWare and SMP and some dealing with GPU at the same time also. Just read a bit.

My dual core runs one CPU and one GPU -- two CPU clients see to generate too much of a hit on one of the 3... hehehe 22 min / frame on patty melts is nice though.
So i vote for option two.

Thanks , I am figuring I will try the same .

Also runiing both. But my CPU is coming to a stop so I can compare the numbers.
