Hello,
I have some serious question for You. Well, it may
appear not so serious, but it is vital to me :) I want
to ask what other ways I could try overclock my PC?
And here is important details about it:
Motherboad: ASUS A7V (variant with all DIP switches);
CPU: AMD Duron 750 MHz (stock speed);
COOLER: Titan TTC-D5TB (up to 1.8 GHz);
HDD: Fujitsu ATA/66, 7200 RPM, 2 MB cache;
RAM: 256x2 sticks (133 MHz) and 128x1 stick (133 MHz too);
Video: Daytona GeForce2 MX/400 64 Mb SDRAM;
Audio: Sound Blaster Live! Value
I've overclocked my CPU to 950 and it is stable
(100*9.5), well but when I try to lift it to 1000 Mhz,
and run Quake III loop test, the PC reboots it self
(100*10). I set voltage to 1.85V (maximum legally available,
and I don't
even know what else I could do. Maybe I should keep my
case open, in order to keep my system cooler? Does hot air inside plays important role in
overclocking? Or should I buy case-cooling equipment
(one which pulls out hot air, and two case coolers)? Or maybe it is because
of RAM (Should I buy Kingston or Mushkin)? Or should I
set RAM's voltage higher (I tried to do so, but ... I
think it makes no diference)? Or maybe, when I changed my
cooler, I put too little conductive-paste on Duron chip? Or should I update my BIOS (present v1004)?
I don't think it is the procesor's limit.
I'll be very thankful if you could help me.
