Maybe look around for a set of Microsoft Digital80 USB speakers, they sound pretty decent

They retailed for $249 and I saw them on Ebay all the time for less than $50-100

Here's a few I saw on Ebay (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&query=Microsoft+Digital+Sound+System+80+&ht=1&st=2&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&category0=160&BasicSearch=)

Look into the new line from creative. I think the name of them is Creative Inspire 5.1. They retail for around $99.00 and are made for the audigy soundcards. It includes 5 satelite speakers rated around 7watts each and a wood sub at 18 watts. Had the chance to hear them and they rocked...for creative.

If we lived in a perfect world we would all be equipped with Klipsh Pro Media 5.1, some serious kicking speakers, for some serious dough.:p

The new Inspire 5.1 are not digital they are analog.

Red,

I think your mistaken, the Microsoft Digital Sound 80 software doesnt even work with anything over Win 98, with ME or XP you use the software from sound card, in fact you dont even need to plug them into the USB.

I was under the impression you wanted cheap pure digital sound.

I had the Msft Dig80's and I upgraded to Klipsch's but they will work and the software that come's with them doesnt have to be used, and it probably wont work if you have XP or ME as its incompatible.

Anyway I hope you find what your lookin for.

Why go digital? Speakers are analog. Digitals speakers is just a fancy way of marketing speakers that are equiped with a DA converter. Plug your PC into your component & enjoy the sound.

LOL if it was a perfect world we'd toss all the different kinds of sh***y plastic speakers like those out the window, and use our home systems instead. mmm, real amplification! If only my floorstanders were shielded and fit on my desk!

heh, the magnet on my BP6s weighs more than an entire set of Promedias:)
