Hey I have a celeron 733 with stock cooling and I'm wondering how high I could take it using just the stock cooling. I do however have a slot fan and a card cooler so im sure they help lower the ambient temperature.

im guessing that the 733 has a multiplier of 11 and a fsb speed of 66. If that is true, then just raise the fsb speed to 75mhz and u will have a nice little overclock to 825mhz!!!

Ya been running it at 872 for the past 4 months... so far so good.

Yep, 75 FSB is about all I would do with only the factory retail heatsink and fan.

Herm... I have mine at 83mhz fsb... Its been working fine for months should I leave it or lower it?

defenetly leave it!!. Can u give us ur temps?

Im not sure what the temps are the stats in the bios dont seem to be accurate. They read 0C on the prossesor idle and 32C ambient.

oh and voltage is default

Thats weird..

Those temps don't seem to be accurate.

Grab yourself Motherboard Monitor, then in settings pick a diode and pull out a burn in program and see if those temps move.

If there not moving then you know something's wrong.

I tried that before the temps dont move... I have a feeling the sensor is just messed up... I had some upgrades done a few months back (didnt do them myself I was in europe) so the guy who did them might of busted the sensor.

Ok I just checked temps again via the bios and here's what it said.
Cpu Temp:0C - 32F
System Temp:27C - 80F

What motherboard do you have?

Does it have a built in diode or does it come with a thermal probe.

An Abit Va6 and no idea to your other question..

733 has an extremely high multiplier. It's a bad overclocker on average. But you may get lucky you never know.

Why not try 100mhz FSB? If it fails, lower it. Watch the temps carefully, anything above 45-50 C is too high in my view.

Good luck!

that cpu will defenetly not do 1000mhz with out a voltage mod and some good cooling. my 700mhz can only do 83mhz fst in order to do 100mhz fsb i would need a voltage of 2.05 volts

ok thanks for the help

With my 667 I was stable at 832 on the 83mhz bus. With a good heatsink it will hit 1ghz stabily. You probably can't get that though, as 1.1 is kinda high for that core, though it certainly could happen.

Ya I have a celeron 533 sitting under my bed in its box, should maybe try and OC it some day.

Well you could get lucky and have a cD0 stepping that would greatly increase your chances of a higher overclock...is the s-spec on the chip SL52Y...because if it is then you have a better chance of getting up to 1100:D

No idea how would I check?

Herm... this sisoft is saying my AGP bus speed and PCI bus speed etc is to high and to lower it... should I?
