Man, I finally found an easier way for us arithmetic challenged folders to figure ppd. Just go to the URL below (it's two posts dn), download the algorithm.zip file, unzip it, bring up the spread sheet, enter your WU's tpf, points and WaLa (SP) it calculates your ppd. I've been trying to do it the old fashioned way (not too successfully I might add  ) with the old pencil and paper trick.

Now if this is "old hat" to some people I apologize because I didn't see it in any threads. Oh yeah, thanks to all the great Team 32 members for the patients to show me how to do the ppd thing long hand, I just couldn't keep my pencil sharpened enough :D
PS: Hey H, is this thing accurate? (yeah I know, kinda late askin' now)

Yeah thanks. I know EMIII has a program for Windows, but I couldn't get it to work in Linux, specifically Ubuntu 64 6.06

No sweat, I'm a "noob" too. :) On the graph deal all you do is bring it up and enter (in the title bar with the big E thing) the WU's points, the time it takes you to do a frame, press the big check mark and it puts the ppd in the column farthest to the right. Good luck

ok, 24/(tpf*100/60)*wu points is what that graph does. The extra tpf lines still kind of confuses me tho :P
speed crunch calculator to the rescue. I usually did tpf*100/60 to get how long the WU would take but now I don't have to guessimate on the PPD

I'm gonna level with you, I'm trying to get away from all that 24/(tpf*100/60)*WU stuff. All you do is bring up the graph, point your mouse at either column A or column B, then look up at the insert # in front of the funny looking E, simply edit that # with your tpf or WU total points (whichever column your doing A or B) and press the big blue check mark and magically in column C your ppd appears. Easy breezy :D
Edit again: Sorry Shel: I tried to read your post on using EMIII in Linux. I'm sorry, but I don't have the time or inclination to go through all that downloading and stress (plus I'm getting lazier in my older age) :bang head . I have that old problem with thinking computers were made to make our lives easier. What a lot of people don't realize is if it wasn't for people like you computers wouldn't be around to make our lives easier. Thanks for all your hard work and good luck on the EMIII in Linux. You know how it is, you've got to make it easy for some of us people.
Edit one more time (reminds me of a song I heard) I dabbled, a couple of years ago, in Dennis Ritchie's C programing, C++, COBAL (writers cramp) and my favorite PASCAL. I realize there is "mucho" hard work in writing an accurate and easy to use program. I was just saying I don't have the time, energy or maybe the smarts to program. I'm one of those people that just wants my computer and it's programs to work with minimal troubleshooting and or tweaking on my part. (that's why I wish Win had a SMP client) and :attn:
