I've been looking at building a system around a C2D e6600 for a while now but unfortunitaly the price has RISEN since around mid october when i started looking at them. My question is is there anything in the next couple of months that will bring the price on this CPU down of should I just bite the bullet and buy it now. I would really prefer to not buy one now after waiting more than a quarter year just to see the price drop 4 days after I buy it.

Price drops are scheduled for Q2 so you'e got at least 2 months :) that is, for anything other than minor fluctuations.

I have noticed prices climbing as well. From what I hear, there may be a price cut in February and a big cut in April.
If they keep raising prices, the Feb cut may just take prices down to what they were a few weeks ago.

There is a link in this thread about possible pricing

prices are rising...

is that because of the supply/demand relationship....

or because retailers know C2D are hotcakes and are trying to make top dollar on them?
