ive been reading that people with mobo's with the 680i chipset are having difficulty with RAM because they have high end RAM that runs on 2.2 v but the mobo's go 1.8

then they have to put in a 1.8 to start up and switch settings

this will be my first comp built so i dont want to go through that so im asking if anyone knows where i can get 2GB (2 x1024) that will go on 1.8 or both (if possible, idk) and that is nice

i was originally getting these (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820150054&ATT=20-150-054&CMP=OTC-Froogle), so of you knew of any similar or better

i really want to stick with the what i linked to so if you ahve any other suggestions im open to em

This is what I have.

It is suppose to run at 2.2 and I was worried that it wouldn't boot either. I borrowed a stick from work just in case. It booted up fine and was able to install windows at 1.9v. That memory is suppose to be 4 4 4 12, but kept showing up in the BIOS as 4 4 4 18. I adjust the volt and the timings with no problems at all.
I guess I'm one of the people that have had nothing but good luck with this board.
I believe that the people that were having issue like that were using ram above 800. I maybe wrong tho.
I think that memory you choose should be fine.

Those are rated at 2.1v, won't you have the exact problem you wanted to avoid? Those are nice sticks although no longer D9. Not all memory on 680i will have problems with detection. Unfortunately you won't be able to find any ram capable of being overclocked decently (or decent ram in general) at only 1.8v.

Changing a memory voltage setting in the bios is not that difficult. If you are comfortable building an entire computer you can do this too. And we're here to help if you have any questions. I think you'll be much more satisfied and proud of your rig when its complete as well.
