Instead of writing down the error on the BSOD, and assuming you're running XP or W2K... open Event Viewer (Start | Run | Type eventvwr.msc in the Run box) and right click--> "Properties" the latest critical errors you've received (critical errors are in Red). Copy and paste (use the "Copy to Clipboard" button under the arrow buttons in the "Event Properties" window) the latest critical error message(s) as they appear under the "Description" field, and post them in this thread.

After you hit the "Copy to Clipboard" button in the "Event Properties" dialog, the contents in the Description field will be copied to the ClipBook Viewer (ClipBoard). You can then just paste the contents into your post, as there is no Edit-->Select All-->Copy function in ClipBook. In addition you could type clipbrd in the Run box, which will open the ClipBook Viewer containing the copied text from the Event Properties dialog... then perform a File-->Save As, and save the file with a *.txt extension. You could then perform a Edit-->Select All, then do a copy/paste of the text in your new post... so you have a couple different options.

Also, open the System Information tool by typing msinfo32 in the Run box | Expand "Components" | Highlight "Problem Devices", and look for any problems that might be listed there. Which system of the two that are listed in your sig is the one you're having problems with?

Thank you for your help here are the last 2 errors neither says anything about that one .dll file.

Red, let me ask him a couple questions then I'll back out of this. You're more expereienced than I am. You may see where I'm going on this and I may be all wet............

Bogie,

Couple questions:

You are using XP?

"Event Source: Application Error"

"Faulting application wmplayer.exe, version 10.0.0.3802, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180"

The bold highlight on the second line is a system file. You have a significant overclock on that 3000. Have you run solid stability tests on that overclock? Check your temps reliably, maybe with Core Temp v0.94? You don't have to be using applications for them to error, just loading them can be enough.

If you haven't already, download and run Memtest86+ on your G.Skill... at least 10-12 passes of both Tests #5 and #8. If your RAM passes Memtest, then download and run your HDD manufacturer's diagnostic software. Either that or schedule a disk check to run on next boot -- Open Explorer and right click the rot partition | Select 'Properties' | 'Tools' tab | Error-checking-->'Check Now' button | Under 'Check disk options', put a check next to 'Automatically fix file system errors', and click the 'Start' button | A disk check dialog will pop up asking if you'd like to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart your computer... select Yes | OK out of the Disk Checking windows, close Explorer, and restart your PC.

Edit: Oops... I just noticed your post after typing and posting my response RollingThunder, sorry about that.

It's ok Red, I'm all eyes now. I'm just wondering whether he has a corrupt driver like Maxi said or OS is corrupt. I know vid drivers can be a nuisance and relatively easy to fix but he's got to be a known stable system first.

Thank you everyone here are shots of the temps, these just happened, i have never had any problems b4, what drivers should i try i have a evga 6600, i will try the hard drive chk disk, thank you for everything.I am running 2 80 gig drives in raid 0 striped, also xp pro w/sp2.

Well i have done everything i was told to do diskchk, came up with nothing, memory showed no errors. Uninstalled and reinstalled video drivers, uninstalled pc-cillian internet security. Running system file checker. I hope this has helped, as this all just started, again thank you everyone for your help.

Bogie,

You still haven't stated how or if you ran stability tests, how long you ran them or how you checked your memory.

If you ran tests, what software did you use?

Isn't that Venice 3000 1.8 MHz? You're running a very hefty overclock. Try running it at default speeds and see if your error goes away.

What else was running at the time? I get that same error in nv_4disp.dll if Limewire is running and I try to play any kind of video. If that's the case I can't find a fix for it (tried various drivers, versions of Limewire, codecs, MP 9-11, etc). Either app alone is fine, but they just can't play nice together.

Well the stop errors continued, finally after going thru everything, even with it passing memory tester, for a few hours, i had a friend i called to help me, and we found out was the memory, it wouldnt even pass sandra at stock settings, i was lucky i had just gotten a dual channel kit from someone here on the forum, till i can rma my gskill, i put the corsair in and it booted right up, before it wasnt even booting anymore. Thank you all for your patients and help.
