Basically I'd like opinions of what you guys think the best overall board for an E6600 would be in terms of: reliability, overclockablility, and general quality

im thinking of doing a build with an 8800gts but i MAY go into sli for the future instead of buying a new video card.

i was considering gettin the evga 680i motherboard as they sell it at directcanada for 269.99 and it seems to be a good board but i have also seen alot of problems with bios issues and such.

Oh yeah i forgot to ask what would you guys say is better? the 680i chipset or the 975x chipset?

I'd say if you are looking to go SLI, the 680i chipset would be best. You'll avoid having to use hacked drivers for SLI (which could limit you to old, underperforming drivers) like you would with 975x

they are on newegg.com for $249

my prices are in CAD not USD so thats why its 269 at directcanada

Hmm im wondering the P5N32-E Sli asus board or the Evga 680i, both use the nvidia chipset but which would be better in your opinion and your reasoning

I'd go for this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813188009

It's the eVGA 122-CK-NF68-AR

There's also an eVGA 122-CK-NF68-TR for $20 less. It is the exact same board, just doesn't have some of the extra crap that they $249 one has included (extra USB headers, etc, etc)

But i would skip the Asus, it's too pricey. I've not heard anything that special about them over another 680i board. especially not for $60-80 difference.

If you want sli with the nforce chipset for cheap, look at this board.

I also found another version of the evga 680. I'm not sure of the differences. One review on newegg says it didn't come with a lifetime warrenty and fewer cables.

I have the 680i and have not had any of the issues reported by others. I got mine right after the p23 bios was released and that is the one that fixed the major issue with Sata.

To compare the 680i and 975. 680i has sli. the 975 has better RAID controller. Tomshardware.com had a decent review about the RAID controller.
