Hey guys my girl friend has an older DSL modem and a Dlink wireless router. We hooked it all up properly (I know how to set them up) and all the lights are going and what not.... but she gets this:

and it just doesn't go, the bell guy said that it's something to do with XP.... I have never heard of a miniport so I'm at a loss. Help if you can.

Thanks

Have you had a PPPoE connection beforehand, before you got the router? Was the PC ever directly connected to a dsl modem?

You need to check your network connections for a dilaup connection and delete it. And set the PC for LAN usage instead of dialup.

It was originally hooked up straight from the modem via Cat5e untill today when we tried to hook this up.

These are the two connections in her "Network Connections"

2 Broad band :
-Symptatico (Disconnected)
-Internet Connection (Connected)

LAN or Highspeed:
-Local Area Network (Limited)
-1394 Connection (Connected)

Where do we go from here?

Yes, the broadband connections are all wrong since now the router will do this work.

Ok so what do we have to go to get the wireless router to work?

The "tech support" at windows told us "You don't need to know about miniports, do you wonder about the engine in a car, or why a plane flies?"... GOD useless people.

Ok What you need to do is Delete all the broadband connections, make sure your computer is directly connected to the router and then restart your computer or type in Command Prompt ipconfig /
release and ipconfig /renew. that should work if your router is set up properly. I would call the router company for Tech Support i know Linksys has awsome Tech help. I don't know about D-link though.
