BF2142 vs. BF2

I play css a whole lot, but it gets boring sometimes. I play BF2 in between scrims/matches of css and mainly just mess around. My favorite thing to do in BF2 is to get a buggy and strap all 5 C4s to the front of the buggy. Drive up next to a enemy tank, hop out, and detonate the C4. You get an easy tank kill that's instant and it's hilarious. I don't play to get ranks, I just play to mess around and have fun with my other friends. We play BF2 currently, but how does 2142 rank on "fun". It's still pretty expensive at places, but I'm willing to buy it if I can have more fun in it than BF2. What do you do that you think is cool in 2142?

well, I played BF 2 for a long while, and played CS:S. I saw BF2142 come out and was like "whats all the hype about"? Then I downloaded the demo, and had a blast, enough so I went out and bought the retail version. I find 2142 to be more fun than BF2. The weapons, and new vehicles make it really fun, and its not impossible to fly the flight vehicles anymore.

The new mode for 2142 is "Titan" mode which adds a new twist to game play. Basically each team has two giant ships (which you can board) and on the ground you have various points that you try to protect and aquire. When you aquire these points, the missile system targets the enemy titan ship with its "anti titan missle" and fires off every 2 minutes. Each strike with the missile weakens the shield.

Once the shield is down, you and your team mates have to board the enemy titan either by airship or by using flight pods that eject from certain vehicles. Once inside you have to defeat 4 barriers to get to the core. Once to the core, you destroy it and game over.

Its a fun game. :)

Im looking fowards to Bad Company, because its modern like BF2 (not futureistic like 2142) and the destructable enviroments :)

As a long time Bf2 player I tried the 2142 demo, played for a bit, and went back to Bf2. It's nothing more than a diluted down skinned Bf2. Shame really.

I'm not much into futuristic games in the first place, so it looks like I'm staying with BF2.

2142 is 40 times better then bf2.... better graphics is always a plus in my book...the titan mode is awesome for infantry....the veichles are way better and easier to use...and you can really pwn someone by getting there dog tag :)

2140 seemed like it was a mod for BF2. I played single player at a friends. It didn't do it for me.

I wouldn't buy it to try online, EA isn't getting any more of my money.

I love 2142, It is the same engine but a different skin, but there are many things that are different. Try it out man, i haven't played BF2 since dec...2142 is a lot more fun to me since it forces squad-work.

Desert Combat of BF1942 blows both away in my opinion.

The only thing it lacks is the squard fuction, and medical revive.

Even the recording stats is better with the with
BF1942/DC stats only record the latest 3 months or so I think. And it is based on kill/death ratio I remember. I used to be top 200. Unlike BF2 etc. now, from day 1 and every bad luck round would become a part of your stats forever. And the early version commander's no skill artillery kill actually counted into kill/death ratio, and it was not erased from the stats after this rule was changed...funny to see quite some early starters with impossible kill/death ratio thx to the commander artillery from early days while they really not that great at all.

Unbalanced airpower is one of the biggest let down of BF2. DC is perfect with personal stinger, which everybody can have and move around with it.

1942 will always be the best but bf2 was fairly good. I like futuristic settings but I haven't played 2142 yet.

ive played all 3, and 2142 is my favorite. bf2 just seems to slow paced and bla to me now that ive *****d 2142. besides i just love active-camo and rdx packs

Absolutely true! I played BF2 for a long time and i've been playing 2142 for a couple months now and I find the game play slow and sloppy. BF2 is a much better game in my opinion.

ive been playing 2142 since it came out and i tried to play bf2 the other night and omg the graphics suck!

I totally agree that desert combat was supreme, but the game engine itself has gotten so old that I don't even bother installing it. I think BF2 would have been much cooler if a mod for it would have been accepted by the community so well as DC.

2142 is really cool, but really different than bf2. As someone said earlier, forcing squadwork was great, the titan is mode is fun, but i dont like the unlocks system as much as BF2's.

2142 is sometimes more fun because of the mechs, and the titan mode, and a lot of new innovations mentioned above. but BF2 definately still stacks up.

Anyway, 2142 is definately worth buying- download the demo

I still like bf2 better. 2142 offers some cool gadgets, but i like the (semi) realism of bf2.
