Windows ME and i installed norton before i reinstalled because norton deleted windows files so i had to reinstall windows. My question is WHY??

I might think that reinstall isn't going to do much and the virus is still flowing around.

at this point,(since u are so soon after a reinstall) virus, fresh install, slow system I would fdisk the entire drive including the mbr. then do a fresh install. if norton deleted system files then it is a good guess that they were infected. then install norton from a cd or download then scan any backup media you have before restoring anything. by definition a virus replicates within a host, causing it use resources to replicate and causes its damage by inhibiting the normal function of the host, think imunodeficiancy, think "slowed down" but this is just a guess, that is why i asked for the OS, a faulty reinstall on 2k, could botch your page file, which also would slow the entire system, politly, i would say that if u expect diagnostic assistance, u should be ready to answer some questions

I would do a fdisk and format and do a clean install again.

Like I said I think this happened because the virus hit the system files and Norton must have thought it was still there so it killed it and the virus will hit again and again!

I'm going to backup what isn't infected then Fdisk, format, and reinstall windows. A fresh install should help. Tnx for the Advice.
