I just recently bought an xp 1600 on an 8kha+. I would like to get the exact temps of the cpu using a temp gauge, like the one for around 25 bucks at kdcomputers.com. Where would I place the probe?
I can't place it on top of it or it would obviously create a "hotspot."
Ideas?
Thx

*Edit* $15 for a Compunurse probe - Under Cooling/Thermal Products, Monitoring
I couldn't find the $25 probe you mentioned on the site, but I'll make a couple of suggestions anyways. There are typically two types of probes. One is a little round probe, the other is a very thin, flat probe. If you have the thin flat one, you can place it between the HSF and the packaging of the cpu such that the tip touches the core (but not between the core and the HSF). This is how I have mine setup.
If you have the small round one, then you would need to drill a very small hole clear through the HSF to get it to touch the core. If this applies to you, I would recommend getting more help because it is very easy to mess things up.
Hope this helps ;)
