Something does seem to be amiss. I just checked out my zone alarm box and the only app showing is Internet Explorer. To allow Folding @ Home to show up, I had to open the ZA window, open the programs window. And then Start the folding program and ZA recognized it.
The Firewall feature set may actually work in conjunction with ZA? Anyone know? Gotta go to Zone Labs and do some reading. It's shown as approved for XP. Hmmmm
Don't remember this was awhile ago then I uninstalled but I will try reinstalling the Pro version and telling you how it goes ...
from my experiences using multiple firewalls i think what is happening is this, when u have two firewalls one will be the primary and one the secondary, the primary will block most all activity and the secondary will see next to nothing . what is happening is that the XP is the primary and the Zone is the sec, so basically the zone has nothing to block it just passes along the gods like it should, if windows even includes it in the picture, if windows will allow this secondary relationship(knowing MS?), which is OK, u may not need it. but you could prob pick one or the other. xp's internal fireewalling, ICF (internet connection firewalling) is enabled by default, and ive heard does a good job.
Try disabling it : Rclick my network places, properties, advanced, deselect the "protect my computer...." box, see if zone alarm kicks in, or then uninstall , reinstall(zone alarm) and see if it kicks in.
while your in your advanced settings harden up your system, poke around (:
I've just reinstalled turned off the XP firewall so far no blocking ...
Here are some things I would like to state or ask:
I've added the @home Cable ISP to the untrusted network zone and added the network to trusted.
I'm running a proxy(AnalogX) and said no I didn't host a ICS server(correct or no?)
I've set both local and internet to medium or else the Proxy will not work if I set to high.

i run 2 walls at all times and i think that basiclly what one dont catch the other does Zonealarm Pro and black ice defender (black ice is primarily an IDS intrusion detection system so with those two i dont think you can go wrong
i have had a few sos's from ppl i have gave Zone alarm to as i dont know the cause but without the internet lock on and all permissions allowed some ppl experience an inability to go on line ,when this happens i just remove it and install tiny personal firewall(0 to do with tiny comps)qas it is the only other firewall that gives you full stealth on the web otherwise if you r hit by a attacker your pc will not let itself be seen it neither confirms nor denies that a pc is at a specific ip addy;)
you can set the permissions to each individual program....
double click on the prog in your task bar.
then click on programs - undewr that select the security levels you want.
OK now everything is working my zonealarm settings are high and I installed TINY PERSONAL FIREWALL!
Thanks...
