OK I have Windows XP and the default drivers loaded for the MX are weird they really have good performance in Counter-Strike 40-50fps while shooting, running and stuff..

Although they suck because of no OpenGL support, so I switch to the 23.10

Now the FPS's are dropping to 15-30 ..

Any ideas?

I've found the 22.50's to work the best on my setup. I've also tried the 23.10's, including every other reference and official (WQHL version) driver available. The 22.50's are the most stable, and my games run beautifully with them...using both OpenGL and Direct3D. AFA my rig is concerned, they're the best drivers Nvidia has come out with yet.

BTW, I don't know what you mean by this...Although they suck because of no OpenGL support, so I switch to the 23.10...AFA no OGL support...could you ellaborate?

I think what tsunami is saying is that the drivers that come stock with Win XP, have no or very poor OGL support. I agree with him/her. Microsoft did a horrible job with those drivers. It seems like they just threw them into Win XP so they could say they tried.
Maybe this is just for Nvidia cards.... Who knows?

anyone having bad probs using, the 23xx drivers, no matter if i use the 2310, 2311, i get jsut BSOD and lockups, weird errors. And all other drivers work fine, i totally uninstall the old drivers in safemode adn everything, works for all other drivers, but these are totally hard to get stable, so imbackm to 2250's

Just a little tip on counterstrike and half-life in general:

Too tweak performance type "fps_max 9999" into the console, this will take the default max frames per second(72fps) to an almost limitless #, you can put anything over 100, I just use 9999:D Also, to get better net performance, see what your rate is set to by typing "rate" into the console. Most modems like 2000-4000, a faster connection >5000, and broadband >7500 depending on net congestion! so for 5000 type "rate 5000"

I shall give those 23.11's a shot, because I'm really not liking the 22.83's, they lock my XP system after a few hours of Wolf or an hour of C-strike. I had 21.83's and they were alright, so I guess I shouldn't have skipped the 22.5's.

Guess what today I found the craziest solution that came from no where.

Noticing a while back my monitor refresh rate was at 60hz and I only played at 640x800 to get the best FPS I can out of it.

Then today I said "I'll get the 23.11 off the nvidia site and go 800x600 and see what happens"

I FIGURED IT OUT!

My monitor had the 85hz refreesh rate and the FPS WAS ROCK SOLID At 85FPS!!

WEEEE I'm so happy that I have such good fps now in CS And now I actaully got some better :p

Is there a way to set the refresh rate through the console in CDS?? CS drops my refresh rate from 85hz down to about 70-75hz. Could it be my 56k connection?? Thank you

Drop XP.... 98se works better for gaming... i had XP for about a week and it took forever to load on my 1.2 AMD w/ 512 mb ram. plus lots of driver problems with my voodoo5. Wait till they come out with more patches or updates. Either way good luck..........

Actually, funny you mention refresh rates...every game I play seems to take my Windows refresh rate and bump it down to 60Hz. I can tell too, because I have a Dell monitor and when you hit the on-screen menu it tells you the current refresh rate. You know when you start a game it "clicks" your monitor, the same sound you get when you first turn it on, and then the game loads up. I don't know what's up with that??

The whole rate XXXX is for data packet sizes and doesn't effect your computer monitor, so that wouldn't help.
