I have a visiontek Geforce2 Ultra and the issue I am having is with Half-life, Counter strike. I only get about 28-20fps when I am in D3D. But in openGL I get an easy 99. But in OGL I also get poor resolution of the text in the HUD and console and in general the view looks dull. But the real prob is the text, its barely ledgibal.

I was wondering if anybody can give me tips on getting my openGL to look better, as well as run more stable. I don't even know the diffrence botween OGL and D3D except that its hardware vs software. Please give me any advice you have,

Thanks

Direct3D and OpenGL are just different formats for programmers to write games for....my suggestion to you is to go to www.nvidia.com clicl Drivers on the top and Download the newest WHQL 21.83 Drivers..this should fix your problem...

I agree w/ Funny, go get the new Det drivers and you will be a happy man! Also, If the game is running but the picture looks blury, you might just have your resolution set too low? Go back to your video settings screen and check the resolution to be sure it's not set at 640x480 or even 800x600 (considering you have an ultra).

Good question. I just started having problems with CS. It looks like the refresh rate drops to about 70 hz and the graphics are now wavy and...poopy:( My res. is at 1024X768 85 hz desktop, and my in game setting is also at 1024X768. Vertical sync is disabled and none of the settings have changed when CS looked great. Can't figure out why the refresh rate seems to be dropping so low. Q3 and RTCW still look good though.
I tried un and reinstalling my video card drivers, but didn't change anything.
So, I feel your pain:)
