I know on some routers there are ways to increase the power out put of the wireless on a router. Is there any way to do it on this router. I don't see any option. Can i do it with different firmware?I have High Gain Antennas and would like to see if i could get a better signal.

DD-WRT firmware can do it if your router version can use it.

Just curious, what problems did you have with port forwarding?
Also, if the wireless power can be increased, why doesn't linksys just have it run at maximum from the start? Is it like OCing in that it could potentially run components in the router harder than they were designed for? Is it a radiation/safety thing?

Nice! Let us know how the port forwarding goes. I hope to get a version 4 WRT54GS and do the DD-WRT firmware hack on it. I usually port forward 27000-27050 and it is this port range that both my Belkin and eHome have had problems with.

I happened to get ahold of 2 ddwrt 54g's. 1 is a version 2 and one is a later version that has the smaller flash ram. I installed the full version of ddwrt linux on the older one and then I used some wierd hack trick to put it on the newer one for fun. They both work flawlessly. You can even overclock the thing but hey why would you want to without some additional cooling. Anyways, its not really my router its just a wireless access thing, my router is freebsd system.
