hey all I think it's time for me to upgrade. I've been stuck with a intel pentium 4 3ghz for almost 2 years now, and I think I need something new.

I have parts that I can reuse from my current computer.
Here's what I plan on upgrading to

CPU

MOBO ( heard this is a good overclocker)

RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145566

Now, I need all your suggestions! I plan on doing heavy multitasking, and alot of gaming. I already have an x1800xt as my video card and will probaly upgrade later on. I want to OC this thing to ATLEAST 3ghz on air, with a zalman 9500 or something. But I also read reviews that the e6300 can oc pretty well too. But i'm not a extreme overclocker. Which one would be easiest to OC without any problems? And does the e6400 have the best price/performanceratio?

thanks in advance

If you can afford the high end stuff such as the Asus P5B-Deluxe Wifi and some better memory, most people on this board will recommend you using the E6400 as the low end budget chip, E6600 as the mid-ranged chip. If you want to use that motherboard you can always go for the E4300, 3GHz on air should be easy for the E4300. For the air cooler, i recommend using the Tuniq Tower which can be ordered from Frozencpu. Since you stated that you're not an extreme overclocker, the E4300 should fit your needs nicely. Get a nice single 12V+ rail power supply.

Why get the p5b deluxe wifi version? If you arent going to use wifi your better off getting the non wifi version for $20 less, $180 which is only $30 more then the DS3.

If you plan on heavy multitasking I would reccomend a 2GB set of ram if you can spring for that. Theres a couple good sets of G.Skill for around $200.

I never said there was. :) I'm just saying if he can afford it go for it, you never know if he might want to go wifi later on and doesn't want to use up a PCI slot for a wifi card.
