I am stuck, stuck, stuck. I am playing realistic difficulty setting and am at the second checkpoint in the Swamp. Its the one where Val drives and you are the gunner. I can take out the first 2 jeeps and the helo as well as the next 2 jeeps that come after me, usually with at least half armor and all health, but the 2 guards at the compound gate and the guy in the sniper tower really stick it to me. I haven't even ever made it past the jump and I have tried it at least 100 times. In my desperation, I have tried the cheat codes to save anywher, but I can't even get them to work. http://cheats.ign.com/ob2/068/482/482383.html
I changed the luna file just like they say, but How do you add -DEVMODE to the end of the executable command line? I tried to change the desktop shortcut target to read "C\farcry\.....-DEVMOD" but window kept saying "the name specified in target box is not valid" So I tried to change the Far Cry EXE file name to "Far cry exe.-DEVMOD, but then it wouldn't open. I am about at the end of my rope. Any help with either getting through the compound or with the save anywhere anytime? Thanks.

Do not read if you want to play Far Cry.

Here is a really good tip that is not quite a cheat but an exploit of the game map.

You can jump the fence and walk the entire way to the area where the jeep stops and kill all the guards, then come back and take the jeep ride with Val with no interference at all.
Go to the back right corner of the garage building where the first jeep to chase you is housed. You should be able to climb the hill with some well timed jumps. From the ridge at the top you can easily kill the first two buggy crews. Continue across the top of the ridge until you see the attack chopper on the ground to your left. Take out the crew long range. You have to be careful here because there is an auto-kill zone. (cross the invisible line and you die) Drop down to the right and search for the third jeep crew and take care of business then proceed to the checkpoint with the ramp and kill the guards.
At this point you can turn back and take the ride with Val without the jeeps and helicopter and do the rest of the trip after the ramp with fresh health and armor.
The advanced method is to continue on past the ramp making sure you can get back by dropping some crates off the edge to climb back on. You can make it all the way to the place where the jeep ride ends and wipe out the mercs there as well.
Doing the level this way is almost like having a bonus map.

The straight way to do this part is to time grenades to take out the first three jeeps and use the machine gun on the chopper. Then switch to rockets to kill the mercs at the checkpoint.

I thought the next part was harder then the part Hookj5 is hung on.

Anyway Hook to get the cheat code to work copy it from someplace and paste it.... even though it looks the same when you type it, its the only way I ever got it to work.

and thanks fabulous I'm going to go try that way out. Tho its too fun wasting the mercs on the jeep ride as well, decisions decisions.

Farcry was hard enough on the middle setting...I don't think I would have to patience to play on Realistic
