Maybe this is the wrong forum for this.

My motherboard has a spot on it for me to plug in a speaker. Incidentally, my case had a speaker in it as well. What I'm wondering is this - why is that speaker necessary? It already has the beeper for making those sounds and external speakers for sound.

So what is this speaker there for?

well yea basically i would think thats where you connect the speaker for the beep. Would that connection be in the same location as the connection for the hd on, hd lcd, etc etc? :D

What I don't understand is why you need a speaker when there's a beeper mounted right on the mobo. :eh?:

well i guess that would be for the people that have a speaker mounted on there case for the beeper. so i suppose for a EXTRA loud BEEEP at boot :D
