Hey guys!

I just ordered some stuff online.. and can't wait for the items to arrive. Here is the list of items I have ordered:

Soltek SL-75DRV2 motherboard
Athlon xp 1600+
256 MB DDR RAM (PC300!!) 7,5 ns. CL 2 from Corsair
Thermal Take Volcano 7 cooler
and some thermal compound

I also have various items I wish to keep from the old system.
what I plan to keep:

Leadtek Winfast Gforce 3
Creative Audigy Soundcard
Ibm Deskstar 75gxp 40 gigabyte
and some ****ty lan pci card 10/100 mbit

I have a hightower with some fans cooling the air inside.. and a 300 watt power supply.

what I want to ask here is.. what can I expect this upcoming system to deliver?
Can I reach the 150 mhz frontsidebus?
or must I unlock the processor to play arround with it?

Welcome to the forums.

I am not familiar with the motherboard but assuming its good for overclocking then 150fsb should be obtainable.

You can check what others have got their xp1600+ to in the cpu database. A link to it is on the main www.overclockers.com page.

Being able to attain 150MHz/300FSB does not depend on your CPU or RAM or MoBo alone but on how your system works together as a whole. Remember that a system that works properly is bigger/better than the sum of its parts.
