i dunno if this is because of my PSU, mobo, or cooling

its a epox kha+ board and 1900+

i finally got it to run at 133 fsb. right in the 75% win2k boot freezes.

i bump it down to 100 fsb, it works.

it even froze at 130 fsb.

but i left the comp off over night, next morning. i boot it wit 133 fsb, and it works. started playing UT = freezes.

ive got a VANTEC CCK-6027 heatsink/fan.

what i wanta know is, is this because of the cooling or something else.

if it is cooling, ill return my hsf and my board and get a abit kg7-raid and a sk-1 hsf.

btw ive got a 350w ENERMAX EG365P-VE(FC).

It might be your cooling. I know awhile back I had trouble with my Rig freezing during 3Dmark2001 it get to game two or sometimes game three and then freeze. All they did was update the drivers for me and was a able to run a 36 hour loop of 3Dmark.

It could very well be a cooling problem. You are showing 53° C, which is lower than what AMD rates the chip for, but you are measuring the temp with a socket thermistor and that isn't the actual core temp. Socket thermistors can easily be 15-20° C low, depending on placement and if it makes contact with the cpu base. The XP 1900+ is dissipating around 68 watts at stock speed and that is a lot of heat to get rid of. I was just checking out that hsf because I'm not familiar with it and hardocp rated it pretty well. You might have some problems with the way it is sitting on top of your cpu, like not making even contact all the way on it.
Also, I see that you are running an enermax psu with your Epox board and I've read of people having problems with that combo. Specifically, the 5 volt rail is too low and causing stability problems. It also might be a driver issue as mentioned earlier. All I can say is to try various different things out and look for any improvements, but if I was a betting man, I'd bet on the cooling first.

so now its cooler than its suppse to be?

aslo, i forgot to mention that theres also arctic silver ii on it.

how much louder will the sk-1 be?

my psu fan and my hsf is already pretty loud. ill prob end up getting a different board anyways.
