Wouldn't that be the most awesome thing in the world if we had a windows smp client soon? Because in the past month, I've built around 10 new office rigs, most with e6400's, a couple 805's, and an e6300. Plus I have two dually ht xeon rigs that would love some smp folding, but they're both prestonias :bang head Then I can also have my other dc servers, and my 930 and 945 rigs too.
Any chance we'll have a smp windows client any time in the near future?

by reading from Stanford's comment, I doubt it will be anytime soon!! yes, it will be one day, but just not in the very near future (<1/2yrs) imho. plus, it might need a 64bit windows to run it too(?)!! even tho there will be a 32bit Linux client in the future.....

Stanford hasn't even given a firm date on the 32 bit version for Linux yet, so I doubt seriously that there will be a smp version for windows any time soon. Just have everyone switch over to 64 bit Ubuntu in the office perhaps? ;) :D

I suspect that part of the reason there isn't a 32 bit Linux client is that just about anyone could run it on any machine. By requiring a 64 bit cpu, all the older slower rigs were eliminated. The SMP client is intended only for high performance machines and the 64 bit requirement was the easiest way to implement that. Better cpuid will have to be in place before 32 bit clients, Windows or Linux, come out. Heck, if there were a 32 bit client, I'd be trying to run it on my p3 duallie and that's not what they want.

Well if they came out with a 64 bit windows client, I would have no problem switching everyone over to 64 bit windows :D
