View Full Version : PS3 Firmware 1.5 Update

About to try it out myself but apparently there is some new Firmware out for the PS3. It does not seem to add much, the biggest ones would be a new payment method and a rumored fix to the PS1/2 game graphical errors. I say rumored because I am yet to try it myself and did not read the patch notes yet. Anyway may be worth getting for anyone who is having problems with these issues. From the looks of it though Sony is for some reason with holding the new features till the Euro launch/Firmware update in March so don't get your hopes up for much until then.

yea i wouldnt doubt they are waiting, they've got a lot to add =p, i just want access to my main friends list while in game and to be able to download things in the background.

Yeah, I think pretty much PS owner is wanting those features right now. Still though I am happy to see they will atleast give us a few small Firmware update between now and March.

No I believe it's out for both regions now. I would test it but my router is acting up and I am not running a wire all the way to my living room.
Aparantly it does fix the backwards compatibility issues (as reported on just about every gaming blog on the internets). At least Sony is working towards this, which is very good.

Now they can get to fixing the PSP's PSX emulation too.

no it's for america too
well i test it this update and i cant see a difference from before. i played gta vice city. i was planing on buying kingdom hearts 2 thinking this update would fix the ps2 game problem. now i dont think ill waste my money on it since games still look horrible.

Just got the patch myself and for me it seems to have fixed the problem. I am using a DVI to HDMI adapter if that matters.
im using hdmi cable on a 50" tv and i still see jaggies and bad.

Have you tried it in the PS2 though to compare it. The PS2 games generally look bad on HD, so compare it before you make your decision.

Well I guess that could cause a bit of a problem. I happen to have both systems and Vice City so I will test that game specifically later, but I think it is just PS2 games and specifically GTA games as they have never had good graphics tend to look like crap on HD TVs.

Lol, well, errr... yeh! 3.03 OE lets u play your own PSX games without the PS3 :p
Man do i love those Jap Super Robot Wars games, and i doubt Sony will ever bring em to the PS3 shop, so :p at Sony :)
