One day I decided to turn off my computer for a bit while I checked to see if my fans where all working. So, after a while when I started my computer again I got this message:

the message:
Type the name of the command Interpreter (e.g. C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM)
C>

So I just restarted the computer and went into the bios but did not change anyhting, and after that my system went back to normal and that message never appeared. Can anyone tell me what the message means?

well it's my experience that when that happens it just means that Windows was unable to find it's primary codes, which are in command.com. So just try to restart and if it doesn't work, them maybe your hard drive has been damaged, and you will have to try to use a boot disk. Good luck

What operating system are you using?
Guessing Windows 98.

How long has the operating system been installed?

I think its just the daily Windows 9x mess up... If it only happens once I think you should be ok.

it happened again... So what I did was copy the system files from my win98 boot disk to my c: drive. Everything seems to be working now. But lets say I get the message again, will I have to reinstall the OS or could my hd really be damaged???
