if i switch cpu and mobo on WIN XP do i have to reformat the HD ?
i mean going from an intel chip to a AMD

No you do not have to reformat your hard drive just because you changed the motherboard and processor. There may be other reasons that you would want to reformat the HD and reinstall the OS and all your software but just changing those components does not require that you reformat.

yes he's absolutely right!
but its a good idea to start fresh with a new configuration as there is less chance of conflicts( ive done this b4 , most of the time had no problems but on a few ive had to format) goodluck anyway!!! :)

i would definatly reformat\clean install. Theres to many things that can and do go wrong when switching hardware and drivers. Most people wait to long to do a regular format and clean install anyway If you want a trouble free set up my two cents is to do it rite and reformat it may be a pain in the rear but in the long run you will be happier with a smooth running rig.
