Hey,

I recently built my PC (specs in signature) and installed Win XP upgrade over ME.

For a couple of hours things werent so bad except for me having to reinstall software incompatible or needing reinstallation with Win XP ... however I noticed (after tinkering around with my audigy ) that WinXP is sending sound down the IDE cable from DVD/CD Rom drives and not through the digital /analogue cables that come with the sound card/CD drives! ...this was confirmed because I unplugged the SPIDF/Analogue cables from my Audigy and it still played back CD /DVD sounds . How do I rectify this ,or is it normal??

Now for the MAJOR Problem : a couple of hours or so after installing it ,Win XP refuses to recognise any CDs/DVDs on my CDRW/DVD Drive!.. hence I don't currently have access to my DVD ROM and CDRW drives.

Device manager recognises both these drives for what they are and report no problems.

Any suggestions ? : /

i can confirm with you that i am also having the same problem with xp and my dvd/cd-rw.
for me its a little different though, what happens is as soon as i instal my burner software ,and restart they are gone after reboot. i go into device manager to see where they are and they show up but with ! next to them. i try to "find drivers or update drivers for them but ofcourse microsoft cant find them!
i will admit though that this is not a completely innocent version if that makes sense! i did try an "innocent version" problem free but ofcourse the other issue that bugs us a month later.(im trying not to be specific!!!)
i hope you figure it out dude!

I disabled Plextools from startup and tried...still didn't work . I then uninstalled both drives ,booted up and let windows recognise them...seems to be working fine so far... keep fingers crossed!

But there is still problem of my PC not turning off when I shut down windows.. I went to Power Management and Advanced .. its all enabled... weird....
