any reviews comparing OCZ to kingmax for PC2700?
I am looking at hardcorecooling.com because they charge an honest shipping rate.
They are selling OCZ, but I know kingmax also makes PC2700
any reviews or opinions?
any PC2700 running at CAS 2? All I have read indicates CAS2.5
thank you for your time and have a good day

i just read how much OCZ is getting slammed in other posts.
I did not know they were such a problem.

There is a review of Kingmax PC2400 over at pcpowerzone.co.uk (http://www.pcpowerzone.co.uk) and they plan on reviewing Kingmax PC2700 soon. However, I doubt they'll compare it to OCZ PC2700, as I don't think there is an OCZ reseller in the UK.

why bother raising the FSB if memory performs worse?

ps.
yes I know why the scores are low but I just don't understand why bother?
PS which boards have a 1/5 pci divider?
also, does anyone ever do a review with 2 sticks of mem.
the extra loading on the bus changes the OC
ps Nitestorm thank you for replying
The kingmax uses 5ns memory vs. the ocz with 6ns memory.
The kingmax should be able to hit higher fsb's.

Well I emailed Overclock.co.uk (http://www.overclock.co.uk), who sell Kingmax memory in England (UK) and Europe, if they knew what the ns rating for the memory chips on the Kingmax TinyBGA PC2700 was and got a reply over the weekend (big thumbs up for customer service for that). Off the top of their heads they think they are indeed 5ns (I've heard 6ns, 5.5ns and 5ns mentioned in forums, but assumed it would be only 6ns as that is the minimum to make it proper PC2700 and thus rated for 166Mhz), but they'll check for sure when they get back into work tomorrow. Hope they are rated 5ns so they should be good for 200Mhz (400Mhz DDR), then it's just the rest of the system to worry about.
If you go to pricewatch.com and look at the pc2700 listings the sites selling Kingmax all say 5ns and the OCZ is 6ns. I have use Kingmax on my last 2 PC's. My older P3 I was running @150mhz FBS with memory timing set as fast as possible with 2 sticks of 256MB Kingmax PC150. On my new PC I'm running @150mhz FBS with memory timing set to CL2 with 2 sticks of 256MB Kingmax PC2400. Personally I would go with the Kingmax PC2700. I have never had any problems with the memory.

Had no problems with my Ocz pc150 (pc133 tested to 150).
7.5 ns chips and go up to 172 cas2 fastest timings..
But for my ddr rig that i'm planning I'm going with kingmax because of thos 5ns

OK, well got it confirmed from the UK retailer, Kingmax TinyBGA PC2700 does use 5ns memory chips. So I've ordered mine and I'll post my results when I have had chance to test them.

I got this ram for $60 with a thermaltake kit. I run it at cas2 with bank interleave set to 4, and other ram timings set fast. Getting Sandra and will benchmark on AK31 v3.1 board. Will post later. Anyone else wanna post their PC2700 or 2400 Sandra scores?

I am running Crucial 2100 at cas 2, FSB 156 without any problems. Below is my latest score.

Not knowing much about DDR. I **BELIEVE** they start only at PC2100 and work their way up.
dragon orb 3 - look for CTSPD. It'll show you what kind or ram you have.
tsunami - They actually start at PC1600(PC100)

Still installing software on my new rig, so I can't post the actual Sandra display yet....
at stock 133 FSB I get 793 & 927. at 150 fsb I get 837 & 982. Am still tinkering though.

As you add more modules, the load on the memory controller increases, so multiple modules may not run stably when OC'd.
So, you're testing not just the RAM but the memory controller- and that may be why reviews seem to focus on single sticks. Just a guess.

It should say on the memory a nuber or something, but I can tell you it is very unlikely you got 146fsb on 1600(100fsb) ram.
You can raise your fsb if you up your voltage on your memory to 2.7, but that depends if your mobo has the option.
Your memory is likely low becuase of your ram timmings, the CAS has the biggest effect. Also there could be other programs running that you might not be aware of, that would be slowing down your bench.

That is my point the mobo implementation can affect how well the FSB will perform when loaded with more then one stick.
I don't know many OC'ers that are only using 256meg of ram.
with the low price of ram I have 768 and almost everyone I know has 512.
I don't need 768 but I just got it :)
I don't really need an XP 2000 but I want it so there you go!!

I've a notion a guy can get 512 MB in a single stick and then have 3 times more ram than needed, without the added strain.
I only use 256 myself, so I've only got 30% or so more ram than I need.:p

I have not found a PC2700 stick with 512 meg yet.

I looked at Component authority on the Kingmax PC2700 and it says NOT OVERCLOCKING ram. It also says it is Tiny BGA. WHat does this mean. It can't be overclocked anymore than it already is? What is the normal overclock on PC2700 Ram. New to the DDR crowd so don't understand the language in it. WHat FSB does this ram operate at, and what is its max. If I get the 2200XP and raise the FSB what am I looking at with this Ram? The XP run at 266Mhz but is that the FSB speed?

I ran my KingMax PC-2700 up to 164mhz FSB and the only reason I had to stop was my chipset. SEE!!!

Componet Authority
"These are TRUE PC2700 333Mhz 5ns chips, NOT overclocking 300mhz chips like others. These modules are programed for CAS 2-3-3 operation at 333MHz via the serial presence detect (SPD) EEPROM. FSB."
They should have said these are true pc2700 333mhz 5ns chips, not oveclocked 300mhz chips like others.
Tiny bga is a process of making a smaller than standard ball grid array (bga). This allows putting more memory in a smaller amount of physical space.
It can be overclocked past the 2700 rating, 2700 is equal to a fsb of 166mhz the xp cpu's run at 133mhz external fsb.

Will these new PC2700 memory sticks work on an ABIT KR7A-Raid mobo?
I am new to OCing and want to build a killer....
here is the system i have in mind.
ABiT KR7A-Raid
XP1900+ I will unlock this baby :D
best DDR i can find any suggestions?
40Gig HD any suggestions?1 that will benifit from the ABit mobo.
For coolinga water cooler.
I need to score over or as close to8800 on 3DMark 2001 so do I need a Vapor chill system?
Asus GeForce3 Deluxe.
If anyone has a system close to the one I`m thinking of building your help will be greatly appreaciated.
THANKS.
Yes pc 2700 ddr work in the kr7a.
The only hard drive that is ata-133 is the maxtor so far.
3D mark 2001 depends alot more on the video card than the cpu's speed so you don't need a vapochill just a very good video card and overclock it.
I would think a radeon 8500 or a GF3 ti 500 would have the best chance of that score.
Ask in the video card section.

You are right they do say Not overclocked 300MHZ. Sorry I misread the sentence.
Thanks.
What bus speed does the PC2700 run on.
The XP2000 runs on 266 but does everything run at the speed?
or is it on the 133 FSB? I don't know much AMD and the new CPU bus speed.

The chip still runs at 266mhz, 133x2. If you use the new PC2700 it will still run at 266mhz but you will have a good chance to hit a higher FSB.

I bought some OCZ PC-2700 from Hardcorecooling.com and they took about 3 weeks but it finally came. Running OK so far.

I had problems with Hardcorecooling also. They screwed up my order and took forever to get it there. But when it arived I called them and told them there mistake and they had it correct and at my door in 2 days, so everything was fine. I was going to go with the OCZ2700 or 3000 OCZ just released, but I think I will go with KingMax PC2700 instead.
For the person who started this thread here is a review of the kingmax 2700.
