Can anybody who has a MS Intellimouse Explorer 3.0 or Wireless Intellimouse Explorer or any Logitech Optical mice please tell me how wll they trully work for games and normal everyday use.
I was gonna buy a MS Wireless Explorer, but with all these bad reviews floating around I'm not so sure anymore.
I've used a Logitech optical for about a year now and will never go back. Great for games and everything else.
I now have 3 optical mice between 7 PCs running through KVMs and won't own another ball mouse at all.
I only started with computers last march & I got a Logitech optical mouse. Whenever I get to use a "normal" mouse I just want to get a hammer....... just get one with a refresh rate of 200 or more & you will be pleased.

I've had no problems with my MS optical intellimouse.
I find that it is much better in games than a standard mouse, find it is more responsive.

I've read that wireless mice really aren't the best for gaming. My Logitech Dual Optical works great(just don't use a Ratzpad, try the Everglide Giganta pad):D

I've also read that with the wireless explorerer it is more responsive the closer the mouse is do the reviever, any verification?
Thanks for the input, wish i could buy 3 at once and return the ones i don't want :(

I bought a logitec iFeel mouse and i love the thing.. the vibrations got annoying though after a while but as an optical mouse i love the thing. Id never go back to my conventional mouse though, sheesh i had to clean that thing nearly everyweek. As a gaming mouse i also like the iFeel again becuse of the fact you never have to clean it:)

very responsive - more so than the traditional, gooped up ball design.

Same here; as long as your desk isn't a mirror, you're good to go.

I need to feel the resistence of that roller-ball. Optical doesn't feel right to me...but I am old-school.

I just reread Tom's article on optical mice, http://www6.tomshardware.com/consumer/01q4/011026/index.html hoping it would enlighten me, but it just made me want to get my hands on all of them and test it out myself, i really wanna see how laggy the MS wireless really can be in FPSs
stupid tom, trying to confuse us common folk:confused::confused::confused:

I got 2 of the logitech opt. mices, and have never
noticed any lag when playing Quake 3 or UT.

I got a MS intellimouse. I'm so glad I won't have to clean rollers.
It only gets confused every once in while, and no pesky mouse-mat limits for those desperate "he's behind you" moments.

lol I know what you mean
Logitech 2x Optical WheelMouse (the blue/silver one), and a Spider-Man mousepad... oh yeah, on USB, I will never go back to a "non-optical" mouse.

I've been using the optical mouse since it's release, just upgraded to a wireless one.
I like to kick the mod's butts in UT, and I'd say there's absolutely NO problem with using one to do so.
I've got the Logitech USB optical mouse and I love it....no crap to clean out of it, no skips, plus it's got the cooooool led lights :D

I have one of the old normal logitech mice (modded blue, of course :D ) and it works fantastic. GET ONE NOW, I ORDER YOU! lol
and if u still need something better, think of swapping the red light inside for a blue one, the higher frequency makes it more accurate.

The photodetector is just as sensitive to blue light as to red? Was it tough getting the blue LED lined up with the optics when you put it in?

Not that hard actually, my first(and only) "extreme" mod...
You just open it up, and pull out the plastic LED housing to get at the red one. Then, you heat up the soulder points and yank it out. While the solder is all liquidy and stuff, shove the blue one in about as far as the red one was (u'll see if u do it) and bend it to be a 90 degree angle. Put the plastic housing back on, and screw tha case together again. That's it!
No adjustments are needed, since it measues the reflection of the light or something, and a higher frequency just means it'll refresh itself more often.
I might be able to dig up a link with really good instructions on how EXACTLY to do this...
this is a good way 2 fu.. up ur perfectly good mouse and blue light is darker and i think it wound be as acurate as the red cos red toens should be easyer 2 read

Dude, if you can then I'm already there. This sounds cool. Plus at $30 a pop optical mice aren't as risky to operate on as some other things I've tried.
I love my Mouse Man Optical. it's the wireless no ball mouse. It's super responsive and with out wires to get in the way i can move it faster. I swear i get more frags with this baby in CS than with my old intellimouse. My mouseman also doubles as a flash light.
