I wonder if it really works.

damn 3/4 restriction!! no way man - if it were a velocity tunnel I could semi-believe it but just looking at it there - I personally wouldn't go to it.!

Booya!

Gotta get one if they ship to uk and if it fins on my hsf!!!

125CFM cpu cooler!!!

That's a fanadapter made by Overclockers Hideout (http://www.overclockershideout.com).

Judging by the looks of that thing, I would say no. The reduction is neither gradual nor focused, and I'd imagine it creates a lot of backpressure.

Plus, do you really want that thing plus a 120mm fan hanging lopsided off your heatsink?! Snap, crackle, pop: What it'll do to your socket clip, processor core, and heatsink respectively.

exactly - if it were funneled down to a 60mm hole from the 120mm instead of just blocking most of it.... I could see a gain, gives me some ideas for my new black and decker RTX tool kit....

Where can you find a fan adapter that doe sallow for the flow?

I have seen quite a few that adapt from a 80mm to a 60mm...

look here: http://www.google.com/search?q=80mm+to+60mm+fan+adapter

this place is selling them with the proceeds going to the red cross... http://www.highspeedpc.com/index.htm?cat26.htm

Plycon (http://www.plycon.com) has a number of them in both the 80 and 92mm variety. Keep in mind though, that of the reviews I've read of fan adapters (do a search :) ), they don't necessarily help with cooling. Depends on the adapter, and depends on the heatsink. I'll post a link later, studying for my final @ 4 right now.

Why do you think it was marked down so much "on sale"!

I have to agree with Szech about his snap, crackle, pop theory. fron their pic, it looks like it's made of solid plastic too, looks to be to heavy to me, and it also looks like there would be a lot of ari resistance. Too bad, looks good at first glance though.

You know what, I think just putting a 120MM in the side of your case above your CPU with no ducting would be better than that!

That's easily the crappiest fan adapter I've ever seen. A 7 year old with scissors, tape and a cornflake packet could do better.

If the fan area is pi(120mm/2)^2 and it adapts it down to an area of pi(60mm/2)^2

That's 11310mm^2 and 2827mm^2 so is only 25% of the area, and probably just 25% of the CFM the way it just cuts it off like that, so a 120cfm fan would only give 30cfm on that adapter..... or worse. If you just stuck it above the sink on the side of the case, since it would be blowing on a square sink, then the actual effective CFM would be higher since it wouldn't cut out the corners!

You could easily put a 120mm in the door, duct it with a cut up coke bottle, and beat the living snot out of that monstrosity.
As for area, that's got to be 1/6th of the fan's 120, letting one go while passing the computer would beat it!

Leave tabs on one end of the bottle and screw it right to the fan.
He**, slice the sides and taper it into the fins on the hsf...very little back pressure....hmmm.

Gotta go...........

try this....

drill hole into side
mount an to the case frame above the CPu center into the hole... BINGO!!! side door still function and the case supports the fan NOT the CPU! and aligning would be sinple becuase you just hang from the case and let gravity hold it.... or you can go a more secure route - but either way it takes the stress COMPLETELY off the socket!

I heard if you reverse the fan flow, and put a shroud on the heatsink, it performs really good!
