So what's with the vendors? Where's the xp trace tape? I have yet to see it. C'mon people, let's get in the game here! Anybody know if it's being sold anywhere yet?

I've seen it, but it doesn't work. There's always the fun of proving people wrong though!:)

It was released about 6-8 weeks ago, then recalled by the "credible" vendors saying they could not get it to work.

Plycon sells it, but if it doesn't work...it doesn't work...

Sounds like you guys have got the same as me so far. Oh well.

It couldn't be that hard to make trace tape that will work on the xp's... Just put a little non conductive stuff in the middle of the strip so the two ends are not covered but the middle is...

You mean apply circuitwriter to some scotch tape and cut it to fit? I've always wondered how to make trace tape.

Read an interview a little while ago were in the creators acknowledged that they could not get it to work and would be refunding the cost to those that had purchased it.

I've heard the same. Plycon has a disclaimer on their website. BTW Silver, that's some sweet cooling you've got.

Donny, you running a tec 80w with air cooling? What kind of voltage are you pushing?

The 80w TEC maxes it's efficiency at 12vdc so I just use the case PSU, which is why I have such a big one. The MCX462 is such an awesome heat sink...it only gets lukewarm under full load WITH the TEC on. I was too lazy to water cool so I got the best air cooling I could and wa-la, -20C temps at idle and -10C at full load! (or somewhere around there)

And what kind of voltage are you pushing through the vcore. I am very interesed as this may be an alternative method of cooling for me. At 1700 (even on an xp) you are pushing some heat. I figure that I am in the vicinity of 130 and need cooling for 150w in order to have a shot at 1.8. Do let me know.

I made it with stock 1.75v matter of fact. The total power dissipated by the CPU is less than 50 watts and so an 80w peltier cools it well. I considered a 110 or 122w peltier at first but those need higher voltages than 12vdc usually and I wanted to run it off the PSU in the case. Also, with air cooling I bet I could use a 120 but that might be pushing it a bit. The 80 works awesome. If you were gonna raise your core voltage then I dunno, might wanna look into more power for the TEC, but for me 80 watts is perfect.

Need to go back to stock settings, no wait a minute and I'll check Radiate. Ok, that works out to 72.8 on my t-bird at default settings. Might be able to pull this off by running 3 80 watt tecs in a T pattern. You have about 160% in tect that you have in watts. I could get the three tecs on by modifying the socket. Have to build my own brace for the modified plate. Efficiency wouldn't be quit as good as I would be pulling heat off indirectly on much of the cooling area but I may just be able to do this. Think........thank you for the info.

Man, that'll be awesome. Just make sure the HS can dissipate it if you air cool. I'm eager to hear how this turns out.

I'm starting to think that needing water cooling any time that you run a TEC setup is a myth. If you have a big bad-as$ powerful TEC then sure you've gotta water cool it, but little 80s and 110s don't need water to work well. They just don't generate that much heat.

I was curious to see when I made mine. I could not believe that I'd need a huge water cooling setup to handle the heat from a palamino athlon and an 80 watt peltier. Sure 'nuff I didn't. It's an easy way to cool below ambient. The thing to make sure of is that your case has SUPREME VENTILATION. The TEC dumps TONS of heat into the case so you need fans to extract it all. The hotter the hot side of the pelt is the warmer the cold side'll be, so keeping the case cool is paramount.
