Just thought i would let you guys know that nVidia has official 23.11 drivers at their site, they also have plenty of mirrors too, so you should be able to get them right away.

Just tried 'em. Very little change in 3DMark2001. A few points lower. Some objects in Q3 looked inaccurate. I've tried every single Det4 driver, but none offer any performance advantages in my set up:( I'm thinking that Gainward somehow optimizes there bios' for a specific driver...the 21.81 for the G3Ti/550. Sound like a valid theory?:)

I've got the 22.50s right now, are these suckers any better? Unless i hear really good things, i think ill just stick with the 22.50s.

yes, i think its possible but not they would do it actually. some systems will get almost no performance difference from changing between the XP versions. i noticed this reading the threads. mine was one tested using 21.81/83 and 22.50 with no difference other than img quality.

perhaps thats going to be the most noticeable difference for most the systems, or hadnt nvidia definitely felt the 8500s threat lately?

UPDATE

Guys be careful using these drivers with the VIA chipset. I have read at several sites that these drivers are causing alot of BSOD with computers that have the VIA chipset.

Personally I am still using them because so far I have had no problems, so use your own judgement. :)

for me these new ones are fine the 22.50's however gave me allot of trouble, two different VC's GF 2 and 3 and i had fragmentation when playing games, i think with these official Det's we should be fine [keeping fingers crossed] as far as scores i did a little better then the 21.83's but not a big enough change in scores to warrent changing, oh well its to late now.

well ive been tweaking every lil thing on my pc i could in the past 2 days.. but those 23.11 drives got me like a 200pt gain in 3dmark2k1 w/o changing any settings. ive got a few memory dump errors, but i think it was from me trying to get cas2 from cas2.5 ecc ddr :)
getting better every minute it seems for me :) yay!

Anyone with a GF2MX, W98SE & VIA chipset running the 23.11s? How is it with the older cards?

I've tried the 23.11 drivers with my GeForce 3 and Via chipset, and I couldn't run any 3d games. I just got a BSOD and had to restart. Cursed nVidia! Ah well, I'll just stick with my 21.83 drivers. They're fine for me.

I haven't had the BSOD for quite sometime now.

The drivers are working great for me some serious fps increases!!

Yeah I am :(

I've gotta check some things now, i just put them on, but My 3dmark2000 scores went from about 4800 to 2600....

I've got an A7V, Tbird running at 1066, a GF2MX and win98se...

I'm just starting to look into whats up...so if I find anything I'll let you know...anyone have any ideas why these scores got cut in half? Even changing the cards settings nothing helps...I can set anit-aliasing at 0, 2x or 4x with no change in 3dmark2000 (though perhaps it doesn't even use that...)

I dunno, wanna figure out whats up though...

I went back to the 23.10's. My score was a little better!

Edit -21.83's seem the best with xp!

Intsalled Dx8.1 (was running 7.0...probably the problem) and that took care of things, in addition to a few tweaks. Also, it detected my trinitron monitor as a default, so I reset that to a trinitron compatible (should make refresh rates correct...they looked fine but you know...)

Anyway, my problem was I had a 3dmark2000 score of 4600 before with my GF2MX, and after the new detonators I had 2600....with DX8.1 and a few minor tweaks I'm up to 5160....

WOHOO! Surely not the best, but not bad for an old SDram GF2MX! Maybe it'll keep me happy long enough for the GF3 ti's to drop a bit in price...darn college takes so much good computer money from you :) :)

Anyway, if anyone had something similar happen, maybe I shed some light on the problem...off to try some Serious Sam now...

Been reading about the new Det. 23.11 so I thought I`d give em a try.

All seems okay may be the graphics are slightly smoother?

Mad Onion 2000 = 13,167
Mad Onion 2001 = 7.001

Old Dets. 21.81

Mad Onion 2000 = 14,651
Mad Onion 2001 = 6,917

got a 600 point gain in 3dmark over my card's stock drivers, but I lost TV-out in the process. I re-installed the 23.11's and got 125+ point boost in 3dmark... weird.

I am running a via kt266a chipset and getting occasional BSOD with 23.11

Because the BSOD was occuring in PORTCLS.SYS which is a W2k miniport audio driver, it was suggested to me that the problem was SB drivers as they apparently have a memory leak in W2k.

Where is the best place to download *older* version Dets? Nvida doesn't appear to have them on their site (unless I missed them). I would like to try running 21.83. And are they marked WHQL / non? I prefer to run WHQL. Is 21.83 WHQL?

Thanks!

Well, I got back home & looked & found out that I was mistaken. I am not running 23.11, I am running 21.83 and still having BSOD. Will try to remove/re-install this weekend along with Sound drivers, etc.

So for those of you running SB, W2k and 21.83, it may not be 100% stable either.

I just dropped the 21.83 and stuck in the 23.11, 3Dmark 2001 score increased 200 points. Slightly better frame rate, and everything seems crisper. Noticable change definitly worth the effort.

Oh yeh, How good, I just installed these yesterday! I can't update my drivers on a daily basis now!;)

Acko
02-06-02, 12:44 PM
Why would you want to install drivers on a daily basis?
If you are having a problem with a driver, uninstall it via add/remove programs or in the case of Dets. you can use Detonator Destroyer.

The 27.20 are showing off more details for example the spinning turd in mad onion 2001 is awesom.

Good Luck
