Need help. Went to bed the other night and left my computer running, actually it was Folding. Have been doing this only a week. Got up the next morning to find the computer was dead, no fans running no screen only the light blinking saying it as in sleep mode, I don't use sleep or suspend mode in any form.
Tested the psu, it checks ok. Don't know where to go next.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

funny thing, this same thing has happened to me. what os are you running?
when i was still on 98 if i left my computer running on folding at night i woke up and the computer was off  but now that i have winxp it runs fine. i think your os just crashed or put your computer in sleep mode or somthing, lol.
does the computer work after you turn it off then on again?

I think we will need a little more info. You told us what board you have.
Did it come back on? I assume so, you are posting.
What OS are you running? How did you test the PSU? Has it done it again?

I am running 98SE. And no nothing starts at all, no fans or hard drives, nothing just the green light on the mother board that shows power on.

In response to ridenow, I am posting from my other computer. I used the Antec ATX power supply checker, also checked the voltages with multimeter all checked OK. Haven't been able to get the computer too do anything.

Try changing the power supply seeing if it'll boot up at all.

I already tried that, went and bought a new one. Maybe I should have said that, oops. Thanks for the reply.

I have an A7V133 and find it to be very reliable, although a bit quirky at times. I'm running a similar setup, 1.2 @ 1.4.

Have you tried resetting the CMOS? I've had situations with that board where it wouldn't POST and this was the only solution.

Good Luck!

Yes, I did reset CMOS, if you are talking about removing the battery and shorting across the contacts. Is there a chance the mobo is fried or the cpu?

Update, I reseated all the cables and connectors, pushed the start button and nothing, turned off the psu on the back and waited for the green light on mobo to go out. Restarted again while looking at the case fans too see if they would even try too start, there was a pop and flash from the area around the VRM module and it started and booted up and loaded windows.
Cannot find any blacking or scorching on mobo in this area, any ideas, should I be looking for a new mobo?
THANK YOU ALL for your input.

If it's working now, consider it an early Christmas gift!

Look for a possible short to the case or maybe an errant screw. If it's not working though, it would probably not be worth trying to repair.

Good Luck!
