how is this done.
no operating system installed yet/
If you have an antivirus prog on another computer, see if it can make a set of emergency disks. I know Norton Utilities can do this, for one. Then use these disks to scan the system.
If that comes up clean then you're likely good for a reinstall. However, be careful - you might have infected your backups so check them out too. It's wise when recovering from a viral attack to make sure you install the antivirus software first thing after doing the OS reinstall, so that you can catch any virus infections in any backups and prevent a reinfection.

Sounds like you have a virus that is loading from memory. If only I knew what one it is, I'm sure I could get you a removal tool. :(
Probably. the virus has infekted your master boot record (MBR) .. to remove it you could type fdisk /mbr .. but thats only with win98,me .. in win2k or xp you should boot from a anti-virus disk and remove it .. programs like Norton AV can make that disk .. but do it another comp .. and write protect the disc .. that way the floppy can´t be infected ..

if you have formatted, and formatted the MBR there is no virus.
Do all of this:
Format the drive...........
Format the MBR.........
Reboot. No chance you have a virus now.
OR:
Fdisk and remove all partitions.
Fdisk and install a primary DOS partition. (if installing 9x)
Format.
Reboot. No chance you have a virus now.
Are you sure it's not your bios virus warning going off? It yells virus every time you try to write to the MBR.
