ack, just get a celeron
the via and the celeron use the same socket but the celeron would woop the via.

One cool thing about the via is that it can use passive cooling. Kinda nostalgic in a way.

I played around with a 550 a while back. It's not going to be near as fasst as a Celeron of the same speed. But it is hella cheap.

Man I don't get the celeron....it's like a 300hp v8 with a choke plate in the carb that limits it to 150hp for no reason...what's with that anyway?? Yeah it'd kick the snot outta a via though, but for much more $$$...stingy intel baysturds!

it depends on how old that computer is
the new via's run on a socket 370
if its VERY old it wont fit
either way,go for any celeron instead of the via if you want decent performance

Yeah the Morgan Durons? I read some on amdmb.com I think it was and those things are quick and cheap too. But the VIA chips are for socket 370 so unfortunately he can't use a duron there.

i dont know what youre talking about, have you even checked the prices??? The Via-Cyrix 700 is going for 40$, while a Celly 800 is going for 45$......for about twice the performance, thas a very reasonable price....Vias arent half as cheap as people think they are...

Whoa, I guess not. I thought the celerons were surely more expensive than that. Too bad a $35~ Duron 800 stomps their guts out both at the same time! If this guy wasn't stuck with a socket 370 motherboard then he'd be on easy street. So, one more time: STINGY INTEL BAYSTURDS!!!!
